It never ends with Trump. Its like he is reliving his days as a TV reality show host. Before flying off to Japan, he just had to start another crisis.

This one is dead serious if he gets his way. He is threatening the operations of our intelligence agencies, thereby threatening our national security.

Did everyone understand that. The President wants to threaten our national security.

What is the basis of this crisis? Trump says, he wants to know how this "witch hunt" started, this "hoax," referring to the Mueller report. He says it was "an attempted coup, or an attempted take down of the President of the United States." He wants to know how this "spying" operation began during the 2016 Presidential election.

Trump creates his own reality. We all know that by now, even his supporters, and he has a very convenient memory.

During the 2016 Presidential campaign, the FBI directer, James Comey, let it be know that one candidate was under suspicion and was being investigated. Comey reopened the investigation of this candidate eleven days before the election, which contributed to that candidate's defeat.

The candidate's name was Hillary Clinton. Benefiting from Comey's largesse was President Trump. During the election, Comey did not reveal that Trump, too, was being investigated. Yet Trump makes the outrageous, totally unsubstantiated claim that the FBI and CIA were involved in "an attempted coup, or an attempted take down of the President of the United States."

Trump has ordered all major US intelligence agencies to assist Attorney General William Barr in his review of surveillance issues surrounding Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, delegating significant authority to Barr to declassify sensitive intelligence materials as the attorney general sees fit.

Barr has already illustrated his powerful bias toward Trump, and this gives Barr the power to be very selective as to what intelligence he declassifies. Of course, Trump knows that.

    But so do we.

The real danger is that Trump's decision is likely to reveal sources and methods to our enemies and put operatives at risk, American and others.

For example, there is the person close to President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia who provided information to the C.I.A. about his involvement in Moscow’s 2016 election interference. The concern is the source, who is believed to be still alive, may not continue in that state much longer because of the President's decision.

Sources and methods of intelligence gathering — among the government’s most closely held secrets — could be made public because the President has determined it suits his political purposes.

Much of the intelligence our agencies garner comes from the intelligence services of friendly nations. Britain, Australia, Japan, France, and Israel to name five. Their sources and methods are now endangered by Trump's order. It is quite likely that they will not be quite so cooperative in the future due to that order.

Once again, Vladimir Putin is quite pleased with Trump's performance.

Trump is accused by the left of taking part in a coverup and now when he is releasing information, the left is flipping out! What is the left hiding? Why the obstruction?

You're obviously posting this crap with tongue in cheek.

Whether this post is strictly your opinion or If you're using NYTimes/WaPo/CNN for sources as you usually do, you might discover the truth if you look at OAN or some other unbiased source; but you don't want the truth - do you?

From what I'm hearing you shouldn't put any money on Chris Wray to be FBI Director in 2020.

Barr is a swamp creature of the intelligence agencies. He knows what to declassify and what to withhold from the public. So you don't have to worry about that.

OAN states a goal of delivering credible national and international news coverage throughout the day while its prime time political talk shows illustrate a conservative perspective.[5][6][7] According to The Washington Post, the channel has been noted for its pro-Trump coverage.[8] The channel has also been noted for promoting falsehoods and conspiracy theories.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_America_News_Network

No doubt your favorite network. That's where you get all your screwy far right wing ideas.

BTW, you never got around to telling me what I got wrong in my analysis. Simply characterizing the report is totally meaningless.

I read OAN's article on Trump's decision. "Trump recently reiterated his Mueller mantra of ‘no collusion, no obstruction,’ and called on Congress to get to work on drug prices and infrastructure.

"While speaking to reporters at the White House Friday, the president said Democrats need to get over their anger and work with him to do what’s best for the country. He said the left wants a Mueller re-do, and are doing all they can to obstruct and further investigate.

"Regarding his declassification of documents related to the origins of the Russia probe, President Trump said its now in the hands of Attorney General William Barr."

That is pretty much all it said. It was straight off the Trump website. It made no mention of the national security implications.

    https://www.oann.com/president-trump-attorney-general-barr-will-get-to-bottom-of-mueller-probe/

I repeat, what did I get wrong in my analysis?

The OP is an opinion piece - an analysis would quote facts at the least - In all of the time I've been posting on this site I have not seen one post from you that had anything positive to say about President Trump; not ONE!.

I might be wrong, but I've assumed, based on the anti-Trump rhetoric you've embraced, that you're a teacher or a federal employee with a personal reason to dislike President Trump.

I'm rather confused. The OP seems to feel that secrecy is important.

Not exactly a classic liberal stance, but rather a big secret government stance.

You sure you want to go there? Seems to me you're about as classically liberal as a fox in the hen house.

Transparency is GOOD until I don't like what may come out. Is that the current mindset?

Thank you President Trump. Barr has proven for many years to be honest, dependable and fair.

If Barr believes Trump deserved this crap tossed against the wall by the Democrats, he will explain it and why.

We know the democrats spied on him. No person had confessed so the spy told us the story.

So welcome to the fair world Mr Barr. We welcome a true and good report. We see how pissed off the Democrats are. They should welcome the truth. But bets are they hate the truth. They played hard ball and do not want to defend themselves. Trump has an ace up his sleeve.

I wouldnt call that an ace up his sleeve.

They havent played fair in years, so it's not about that. He's trying but the left won't play fair because they only care about winning.

I'm hoping that this will bite them in the butts because they are so despicably and obviously dishonest now that we really shouldn't afford them anything other than laughter at being stupid.

Time to just ignore them. They are disgusting.

This is a joke to you? Incredible. You seem happy Trump is ordering his intelligence agencies to reveal secrets and that friendly agencies will become less cooperative. What kind of fans does Trump have?

What is the weather like in Moscow this time of the year?

I love information being released. Problem is.... who is the information being released to? Who will benefit from that information? Looks like it might be, once again, Putin. He's finally going to find out how we learned that he was attacking us. Our methods for finding information about what his government dpes.

This administration has done nothing to stop Putin's attacks on us. Quite the contrary: they are aiding and abetting the enemy that attacked us.

"Aiding and abetting our enemy"... Kinda rings a bell.... Isn't there something in the Constitution about that?

I wonder: How many of you take the side of Trump, and how many take the side of your nation?

I truly believe IMO that Trump is mentally insane. When you think it cannot get worse, it does. His advisors must be pulling their hair out.

These Trump fans did not challenge any of the facts contained in the OP. Nor did they question the consequences of Trump's decision. In part, this is what I said.

"During the 2016 Presidential campaign, the FBI directer, James Comey, let it be know that one candidate was under suspicion and was being investigated. Comey reopened the investigation of this candidate eleven days before the election, which contributed to that candidate's defeat.

"The candidate's name was Hillary Clinton.

"Trump has ordered all major US intelligence agencies to assist Attorney General William Barr in his review of surveillance issues surrounding Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, delegating significant authority to Barr to declassify sensitive intelligence materials as the attorney general sees fit.

"Barr has already illustrated his powerful bias toward Trump, and this gives Barr the power to be very selective as to what intelligence he declassifies. Of course, Trump knows that.

    "But so do we.

"The real danger is that Trump's decision is likely to reveal sources and methods to our enemies and put operatives at risk."

None of that was questioned by Trump's fans. Here is what they said. Most wanted to change the subject.

I am assuming these people are Americans, although, based on what they said, that could be in doubt. If true, though, being loyal to Trump means one has to cheer when Trump makes a decision that threatens our national security. Some go so far as to say that transparency means divulging our intell agencies sources and methods and endangering lives.
