You'd have to be a damned fool to take Russian claims about the US at face value.

As for Syrian oil refinement, how are their facilities doing in the midst of all these years of warring? They were already struggling in this regard in 2011:

    Refining
Syria's total refining capacity was approximately 240,000 bbl/d as of January 2011, according to The
Oil and Gas Journal. Syria's two state-owned refineries are located at Baniyas and Homs, which
have 133,000 bbl/d and 107,000 bbl/d, respectively, of refining capacity. Syria faces shortages of
gas oil and diesel, and needs additional domestic refining capacity to meet these needs. However,
foreign oil companies have been reluctant to commit the investment needed to build new refineries in
Syria without more support from the government. In December, 2010, Venezuela signed a
Memorandum of Understanding to construct the 140,000 bbl/d Froklos refinery, a projects which had
been stalled since an agreement to establish it was signed in March, 2008. Chinese officials have
also discussed a long-delayed 70,000 bbl/d refinery project in Deir al-Zor, where construction was
supposed to have begun in 2008.

They have been using small temporary bootleg refineries for the past 8 years. I doubt any of their old refineries are operational.

Investors aren't going to Syria.. Oil money history of Syria too well.

The President has already stated and committed to the comments in cited article, the OP article also states that it is for process outside of Syria so refining would not be done in Syria as you are implying. We control the fields until we leave and oil is being trucked out under our supervision and protection.

Yes but cannot trust msm given they voice cia and our oligarchy propaganda .

I think you parrot that faction and are too biased in favor of Saudis to be objective.

I believe the Saudis to be as evil as you accuse assad of being if not worse. And they,Qatar along with the US helped finance and arm the various radical islamic factions used as proxies to take down assad . The evidence has been reported but not by msm.
I dont believe a truly observant intellect uses msm as a source of accurate info.

And given its history of deceit believing our CIA is outright stupidity.

I don't watch MSM.. Qatar is allied with Iran.. They wouldn't try to take down Assad. LOL.. and KSA doesn't need a thing from Syria.. They have had the East-West pipelines for over 20 years now.

KSA had the longest pipeline in the world from Ghawar thru Syria to Sidon from 1951 the the late 1970s. Syria was so unstable that it was just endless sabotage. KSA wouldn't do THAT again.

If you knew more about the Gulf States or the oil and gas business in the region, you wouldn't be jumping to so many assumptions about the CIA and the MSM.

40,000 Americans live and work in KSA.. and many are 3rd generation ex-pats. They like it..

Trump claim to Syrian oil raises many questions

WASHINGTON (AP) — By claiming a right to Syria's oil, President Donald Trump has added more complexity — as well as additional U.S. forces and time — to an American military mission he has twice declared he was ending so the troops could come home.

Extending the mission to secure eastern Syria's oilfields happens to fit neatly with the Pentagon's view — supported by some Trump allies in Congress — that a full withdrawal now could hasten a revival of the Islamic State group, even after the extremists lost their leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, in a U.S. raid.
(they got a new leader already)

The military acknowledged on Thursday that an Army unit with armored vehicles, including Bradley infantry carriers, is now operating in the Deir el-Zour oil region. It did not say how many soldiers are being added there, but officials have said the eventual force there likely will be about 500, including roughly 200 who had been there even before Trump was persuaded to revise his plan for a near-total withdrawal, which he announced on Oct. 14.

Don't care what other countries think. We are keeping the oil out of Isis hands, wouldn't be an issue if the Turkish dumbasses wouldn't hsve freed hindreds of Isis fighters.

If we take some of the oil fir our efforts thats a good thing. I say, it's about time!

He's LYING.. Syrian oil fields have been neglected since 2005.. Last I looked production was limping along at 13,000 bpd. Our soldiers do NOT do reserve management and the only oil workers around are Kurds.

Assad already signed control of Syrian oil and gas over to Putin. He did that in 2018.

I don't know, it seems like these days the Russian government makes way more truthful statements than the US government does...

They are "playing their game" by telling the truth? Cripes, I wish the federal government would play that game.

Do you really think NATO is going to tell Americans to get out of Syria? Let's be realistic for a moment. When Americans was in Iraq in the early 2000's, some of the American top people were telling Russians to get out of Chechen region. Now, think about that for a second. Russians were fighting international rebels - ISIS. Does that wake you up, or are you still in the wonderland?
