When you are a black you are automatically viewed with suspicion. As a white person we are totally oblivious to that. We know we can get picked up by cabs. We know we will not get followed around in stores. I can go on and on but that’s a reality. My friend is black and is a CEO on wall streetand has an upscale homes in the Hamptons and drives a bmw and if he is with black friends he knows he’ll probably get stopped. That’s why he has his license and registration in a pocket that’s easy to reach because they usually make him get out and put his hands over the car. I think I was angrier than he, when I heard about it
There are many places between 'say nothing' and 'cooperate'. Answer questions ONLY as they were asked. Provide no additional information or details. LEOs are infamous for trying to get a person to say something that can support THEIR case that you are guilty of something. 'Where were you going' is an infamous one, and does not pertain to why they detained you, and best answer is :that does not pertain to this situation.
On the flipside, I know there are some black people who are paranoid about being followed around in stores. They will think someone is watching them, when they're really not. That may be partially understandable, but it leads to seeing racism that isn't there. That sounds terrible. But to be fair, it was in the Hamptons. They don't have many black residents there, and would be on the look out for burglars from out of town. The neighborhood he lives in probably has a very low crime rate. I do know what it's like to live in a neighborhood with a high police presence, always stopping people. In some ways it feels like a police state. But that's a trade-off people have to live with if they want a lower crime rate. I guess people have to pick and choose whether that's worth it to them, and if it's not, live somewhere else, in a different neighborhood.
Interesting how you say Sometimes black people are paranoid and then you make a rationale for why my friend was stopped because he was black in a wealthy neighborhood. You were basically saying that black people are viewed with suspicion so they’re not paranoid
Cops are the enemy no matter what color the perp is and according to cops everyone is a perp except the cops who live as sovereign citizens.
Life will always be far harder for a black guy ...all I can say is just cooperate with police as many are trigger happy racist
Perhaps you view black people automatically with suspicion, maybe that's why you say this. So your experience represents all white people? And that never happens to white people? and this never happens to white people? I guess I'm black and wasn't aware.
Yes it is. She said when you're black you're automatically viewed with suspicion. That means the black people are suspicious. Don't get me wrong that's not something I agree with. But if she disagrees she needs to rethink her statement or understand what the word suspicious means. Further she said we know so she is all white people at the same time who is we in this scenario?
When they have the responsibility of law on them, why wouldn't I? I'm not a criminal, so it's always a case of assisting them to do their jobs - ie, keeping non-criminals safe.
Oh I get it, this is satire, well done. It's hard to gauge because some of the extreme ridiculous things people say. Poe's law being what it is.
