I can't be friends with political opponents

There are millions of Americans so turned off by Democrats they do not plan to vote. Sure they do not like Trump but as Lysander Spooner pointed out in his comments, to vote or not to vote does not mean one supports the constitution. He argued that we the public have yet to actually vote to support the constitution. And if one did as I did, serve in the Army, that loyalty pledge lasted until discharge and was forced upon me, making it in effect, invalid.

If I pay another $20,000 a year in taxes it will not affect my standard of living. But you were telling me I should just donate it because I love paying taxes. No, what I am saying is my $20,000 will not change a thing if I donated to the government. But if thousands of people paid a lot more in taxes who are wealthy it would make a difference so telling me to donate my money is silly. If that goes over your head I give up

If you define anyone as 'left' who is 'left' of you then guilty. Using rational metrics I actually a centrist. For career based reasons I don't get a lot of laughs from posts about violence against women/the elderly/children.

Welcome to the world we live in. I still maintain a good relationship with trump supporters within my family but outside my family, i have known since the beginning that trump supporters wanted to see me angry, many tell me thats what they voted him in to do. Every single thing i try to say against Trump is shot down with TDS or personal attacks. Its why i say “you guys wanted this so badly well now ya got it” im not accusing you of being a trump supporter but it seems you are completely oblivious to what those liberals have to put up with as trump supporters quickly exhaust any goodwill originally given to them. I dont mind making friends with most conservatives, its just trump supporters will never give someone like me the same consideration they expect from others.

I an pretty objective and find the attacks on Trump supporters to be the ugliest thing I have seen in American politics. As for Trump himself, he says things no more outrageous than what you would hear in any barroom. Certainly I've said worse, as have everyone I know other than a few nuns.

As for what he has done in office, I honestly cannot see anything that Trump has done to be even controversial, other than temporarily holding up the aid to Ukraine. And the tax cuts were too deep. That's just a policy call.

But the main things he has done are either harmless or beneficial. But we've been hearing from the Left everything from "he's going to start ww3," to "he fellates Vladmir Putin," to "he pays hookers to urinate on Russian hotel beds," to " he puts children in cages" to "he's Hitler reincarnated."

I did not vote for him, but because of those unfair and unfounded sentiments, if it came down to my vote deciding the whole thing, I'd vote for him over every democratic candidate except Tulsi Gabbard, who dreams about me and vice versa, and POSSIBLY Yang or Michael Bennett.

 

Claims to be objective yet thinks tulsi gabbard dreams about you.. im sorry but i can smell a fake centrist a mile away lol. Maybe you are just triggered by the responses to the provocations that trumpists always make. Locker rooms and bar rooms are where people go to say **** they cant say in polite situations so that right there disqualifies you from making objective assessments if you think that is a rational bar to set for people saying sane things. Its not a wonder what your problem is then. Also withholding aid to ukraine was not actual policy but what Trump did was against the law.

 

A sense of humor is healthy. It's not a problem. And mine is highly developed.

There are differences of opinion on whether what Trump did was "unlawful." Literally no serious person thinks that temporarily withholding aid from a country is criminal.

As for people who think everything Trump does is criminal, they abound.

I have a friend that is very conservative. We disagreed a lot.

But that changed after Trump was elected. He was disgusted. Now he is center/right, he seems to be saying he'd vote Dem to get rid of Trump. I don't know what to say, because he is saying a lot of things I used to say.

This isn't any Path to Glory.The exact opposite.It's the path to
Anarachy.Where control freak,power mad Pols and their army of
Unamerican dissenters feel they have struck gold.That's like
viewing only one half of - Bonnie and Clyde - { 1968 }.
At this rate the Clothier - Guess - will me forced to change it's

This is really so simple.So Basic.One does not have to like Trump.
But there is no questioning his love of America and most Americans.
Like I have stated routinely.If Trump did not win and Hillary was
POTUS ... this country would look,feel and appear more like Venezuela
than a Great thriving Republic.Which was the Intent of our Founders.
Would are Founders like Trump.I think so.Not his words.
Trump is a terrible orator and simplistic user of the English language.
But he works 24/7 and takes no guff.He finds what is broken and
ugly and fixes or repairs.Like a Master Watch repairman doing a
Restoration of a fine Swiss timepiece.
If God never created a Trump then he would be forced to after
this last couple weeks of outright Unamerican chaos.

 

Gosh... way to miss the point entirely. Would you put up with friends of your constantly demeaning you based on your association with the now violent protests you have said you support? Would you put up with friends calling you a racist because of it? Would it bother you, or would you, as you rote, feel uncomfortable because some part of you agrees with them?

 

Just curious, but given the liberal response, was there ever any goodwill ever extended? I can't recall it. There has always been this reaction from the leftist posters here. Always. I cannot remember a single thing or time that leftists here either complemented or otherwise extended any good will to anyone who ever supported this president. Ever.

 

I can be friends with anyone. We are all human beings. You just have to focus your mind so you see the similarities rather than differences.
