October is shaping up to be a month full of surprises. They say it's a tradition. Please choose which event was the biggest surprise for you. Or if it's none of these, please add your own. Thank you.
The only choice on your list that is a real "October surprise" is the first one. An October surprise is a last minute hit job by the opposition. Usually there is no merit to the charges as is true with the fake news reports that he only paid $750 when in fact the article making that bogus accusation also confirms that he did in fact pay million of dollars in taxes.
I'm surprised it happened this late in the election, even more so that it appears the super spreader event was the confirmation of his SCOTUS nominee last Saturday. (cosmic irony) The taxes and the debate were predictable.
Definition of October Surprize: A news event that may influence the outcome of an upcoming election (particularly one for the U.S. Presidency) whether deliberately planned or SPONTANEOUSLY OCCURRING.
Well let's look at past October surprises. 1980: Allegedly, George H.W. Bush flew to Iran on an SR-71 spy plane to broker a deal to release the hostages after the election and before Reagan's inauguration. #FakeNews 2004: George W. Bush went AWOL from the national guard, a false allegation by Dan Rather that ended Rathers career. #FakeNews 2016: Donald Trump colluded with Russia to effect the election. We all know the outcome of this story. We are still living with the effects on the 2016 election and the effect it will have on the 2020 election because people are stupid and still believe that lie. #FakeNews
Just think of the reopening of the case with Hillary Clintons E-mails, there's still plenty of time for many more surprises to happen before this election. For me Trumps diagnosis is the biggest October surprise so far though, because I think it has the most potential to shape the outcome out of the three.
I was very surprised to see what an unmitigated disaster the first debate way, honestly. I had expected Trump to tear Biden's senile ass off his backbone, but Trump got way too energetic far too soon and kind of spoiled what should have been a FEAST for himself. Nearly anyone with a functioning mentality could have drubbed ol' Joe soundly, and Trump should have done a much, much better job of it.
Yes I expect a few more October surprises before we get to the election. But I'm going to make a prediction That the opposition has to think is a sure thing: An indictment against Trump from the Southern District of New York on the charge of...reasons. Of course they can't actually serve the indictment on a sitting President, but just having one out there would shake up the campaign. Then if he loses, they can just toss it rather than try to defend it in court.
None of these things, in and of themselves, are a surprise, and especially not in terms of an "October Surprise". An "October Surprise" is something like Dan Rather's fallacious accusations about GWB's TXANG service.
All three were suspected well before they happen. I don't have an October surprise, things are shaping up pretty much as I expected.
I just saw this interview this morning and I highly recommend listening to Ms. Reinette Senum give a totally different angle on how to tackle a COVID 19 pandemic than Dr. Fauci and his team have done! Wow! (And the fact that she is a Lesbian Progressive makes her all the more impressive to religious types like myself)! (She begins speaking at the nine and a half minute mark in this interview).
1. Trump is good at using the tax code to his benefit. 2. All political debates are disasters. Nobody should pay any attention to them. The speakers are politicians. 3. He contracted the same virus as millions of other Americans. It is the cost of failing to keep distant from others.
