A total of 46 percent of respondents to the CBS News-YouGov poll who identified as Republican said the Hennepin County jury reached the "wrong verdict." Only 10 percent of Democrats said the same thing.

Among all respondents, 75 percent said the jury reached the right verdict, while 25 percent said it did not.

The 25 percent of Americans who said they believe the jury reached the wrong verdict also said they strongly disagree with the ideas of the Black Lives Matter movement, CBS News noted.

Of course, anyone who has listened to the trial can understand why the jury convicted Chauvin on all three counts.

The chances of his acquittal were 0%.

This poll shows us how racism is still alive and well in this country and that the gap between the Conservatives and the rest of the population continues.

Still, it's aberrant that 25% of the population finds it normal for a policeman to kill a citizen.

Actually it was easy to convict him of manslaughter. Its almost a given. But 3rd degree, nope. NOTHING mentioned in the case proves he meant to kill him. Funny how the racism angle wasn't even mentioned at all. That just went poof in the face of factual evidence.

The most likely scenario was that those jurors were scared for their lives if they didn't' convict him of everything because, guess who the mob would come for next? Its not like anyone can make a case about the mob being sensible. These people burned down cities. Killed and assaulted innocent people who didn't even do anything. Looted. Rioted. Imagine THEM coming for YOU? Easier to sacrifice this guy. And it stopped more looting and rioting that would have resulted from a verdict the mob didn't like. You heard the Twitterverse and politicians threatening MORE violence.

It was just a strategic decision to avoid the most damage possible. I don't blame them.

Sounds about what I would have expected.. 46% of Republicans are fully unqualified to comment on matters concerning events in this country....

And it's probably not all about racism.... it's general ignorance... goes way beyond race... so I guess that's a good thing?

only 10% of dems say he was wrongly convicted, my guess is the other 90% love to see people tried in the media where honesty doesn't matter.

I have to laugh when people who believe a man is a woman comment on the ignorance of others.

    Maybe.

But, you know what is even OLDER?

People making passive-aggresive remarks like "do you think this wouid be any different if the victim was white?".
And, other ridiculous references that indicate a suggestion of "veiled racism".

It works Both Ways (from BOTH Sides).

In fact, it could be definitively argued that most of the "Everything is about Race" BS comes from the RW.

    Just saying.:salute:

Saw the same thread in multiple political forums and the same conclusion was reached every time. Conservatives are saying guilty of manslaughter possibly 3rd but not 2nd-3rd-and manslaughter. No way...sorry we believe in philosophical consistency and not mob rule.

Actually, it's built on my personal reading and observations over the past 4 years...

It's your party that's sinking into the sand of irrelevance..

I can actually remember a day when I had to think about which party/candidate to vote for... there was something each side had to say....

    Not an issue anymore...

The GOP is now the party of racists, Jim Crow, and other disgusting bigots, so it is not surprising that so many members of the Republican Party would ignore criminal behavior if it involves systematic racism

So 2500 people that did not sit on the jury have an opinion. Your conclusion does not match the survey questions.

Why is it you only hear about racism and the imaginary systemic racism from the left every hour of every day.
Seems to me the only racist out there wants to keep racism alive

He was convicted on charges where he did not meet the criteria for the charge. He was convicted in the media before this started.
