Good it is about time these unelected officials were reigned in and told they are not kings and rulers over the people. They cannot force people to lose money on their property forcing them to allow someone to live there without their compensation for it.

Federal judge rules national eviction moratorium exceeds the CDC's authority
A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's national eviction moratorium aimed at helping victims of the pandemic hold onto their homes exceeds the agency's authority and should be vacated.

"The question for the Court is a narrow one: Does the Public Health Service Act grant the CDC the legal authority to impose a nationwide eviction moratorium? It does not," Judge Dabney Friedrich, of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, wrote in a 20-page ruling finding that the moratorium — which was scheduled to remain in place until June 30 — should be vacated.

How dare the CDC force people to lose money on their property and let someone live there without compensation for it when they are allowed to force people to stay home and business close and people can't be compensated or lost their jobs for the sake of keeping people alive during a worldwide pandemic.
    The nerve. FREEDOM!!!!

The whole thing is basically a double edged sword. And we've had about a year to deal with the pandemic but you know politicians, asleep at the wheel. Plus in conjunction, they had Trump as a further excuse from taking actions.

i'm fine with the eviction moratorium as long as there is also a mortgage moratorium to protect landlords and a lending moratorium to protect mortgage lenders

If you still believe that the "pandemic" was/is authentic, you are very easily fooled.

PLANdemic is the more accurate term. This was a planned event, and the evidence for that is overwhelming.

CDC does not have the lawful authority to do what it has done.

I'm glad at least one judge has told the truth.

One more example of how there is little difference between the two sides of the duopoly.

Not sure I agree. The republicans want the program to end. The dems would be happy if it ran in perpetuity. “Universal Housing”

Under Their Savior Trump, the republicans have played along with this fraud for a year. Will they ever come to their senses?

They really didn’t have a choice. If they refused the democrats had created such hysteria about the virus, they would have then painted the republicans as not caring about people being forced out of their homes on the streets and dying from covid.

Pretty sure that would have worked too given how successful the democrats have been at ginning up hysteria over a virus with a .02% death rate.

This is the right ruling, should have happened a year ago.

I think this is the 2nd judge to rule this way.

I think though that both ruling say that CDC does not have the power, but that individual states do.

    Totally.

Like the "overwhelming" evidence for the existence of Bigfoot?

    Sure thing.:bored:

Anyway, back on-topic, it will be interesting to see if this decision gets overruled (or stands).

They want to end it because a D is in the White House. They loved it when Trump was there

There is going to be a tsunami. But it will take years to get them all through the courts, and the states are still allowed to have the moratoriums.

Agree, but there is no longer any "lockdowns" where businesses are forced close and people are told to stay home. If you had wrote this a year ago, it would've made more sense.

There has been a **** ton of compensation for those that were forced to close businesses and those that lost their jobs. A lady I know was "furloughed" last May from the resort she did HR for. She has been receiving extended UE benefits ever since then. She has not worked for a year, not looked for a new job in that whole time and gets like 1000 bucks a week between the state and the Feds, which is more than she made doing HR. She is loving life right now, travels around like she is the ****ing queen of England.

It was not a law, it was an "order". And it seems someone finally told them they do not have the authority to do so. But even this will get appealed so it might be SCOTUS that makes the final call.

So how does a "rule" differ from a Law, if their is a legal penalty for not following it ?

Where was the CDC ever given the authority to assume the actions they did?

A rule is made based off of a law.

A current example would be the occupancy restriction placed upon businesses. Those rules were made based upon laws and from what I have seen there have been penalties for not following them, up to and including losing a business license.

The court agreed with you, and terminated the order from the CDC.
