Last time I checked, and I did check to see how much each one of Trump's children were worth, and if I recall correctly they all were worth around $15 million each, and that my friend makes it quite obvious that Donald Trump Jr. didn't use the joke to garner more money, rather, he did it to reach the humorless crowd on the left.

Given the penchant for the dems, the libs and progressives to attack anything and anyone they don't like with all the respect and consideration you would expect from a pack of hyenas- I don't think they have grounds to say anything. They are the ones who started this when Trump first said he would run, and haven't been civil to anyone since.

What grift? It’s free market commerce. Don’t like the shirts, don’t buy one.

Only thing is I don't like Alex has an authentic political opinion to his name. I think he just shouts whatever mindless clap trap will get him the most applause in H'wood. Like all too much of H'wood today he is a narcissistic child masquerading as an adult.

In defense of Baldwin, you’d be hard pressed to find any actor checking the gun before firing it on a movie set. That’s the job of the armorer and anyone handing you the gun on the first place. Actors don’t check to see if the lights are in the right place or if the cameraman pressed record on the cam before a take. They just perform and take direction, not worry about the details around them.

Why should they? Are they required by law to do such? Why isn't the trump organization parading them around and politicizing it?

While I think that there are more tasteful ways to communicate the fact that guns, alone, do not kill people or commit crimes, Alec Baldwin chose to insert himself into the gun control debate by his blatant disdain for the 2nd Amendment and verbal attacks on those who work to preserve that constitutional right(1).

Therefore, I can't feel but so sorry for him when someone else uses their 1st Amendment rights to attack him.

Excellent and realistic points. Seems that many think that the actor should handle the weapon as if he was an experienced gun owner.

Wonder if Clint Eastwood double checked all the weapons he handled in all his movies. He and weapons are almost synonymous in movie world.

Seems the actor's focus is on his lines etc.........and this is why he has a lot of members assisting to achieve a certain scene. Not excusing Baldwin......but trying to understand the dynamics of the situation.

Did Sean Connery double check each gun he was given for all his scenes?? Or do actors have to trust their support team??.....and focus on their acting.

Bottom line..in this case....... there should NOT have been any LIVE ammunition on this set. Full stop. Who ever allowed those items on the set is also responsible.

Seems that gun owners,/ enthusiasts assume that everyone should know what to do when handed a gun. Not everyone knows ....Not everyone is a weapons expert. The person who handed Alec the gun obviously did not double check......... So there is a chain of responsibility.......

As we have seen on this thread

oh! Well! It’s their money they are wasting and that concerns me less than the lauding of bad behaviour

I am going to reserve judgement for a week or two as more and more evidence comes to light - going to be interesting watching the right spinning harder than they already are on this

Thats kinda the point tho. So many of them rail against gun owners and demand more gun control on the basis that guns are too dangerous while not even making an effort to learn how to at least be as safe using them as the people they want to restrict. They're not just hypocrites, but ignorant ones. I'd wager it hasn't even occurred to Alec Baldwin that he could've easily avoided killing someone by taking a few seconds to check the 'prop' for himself. Not that I think its very likely that he didn't actually know it wasn't just a prop- he was directing the movie after all, so he'd likely have been somewhere on the set while the crew was 'plinking' with the weapons, not something they could exactly do quietly or in secret.

Kinda the point - people will be people

One of the greatest causes of reduction in firearm incidents in Australia was not restricting gun ownwership, although keeping them out of the hands of twits and idiots gets my vote, but in mandating gun safes. Had there been a gun safe in that set I am sure this would not have happened

Well first off, not sure why you would think that, and second, it sounds like there was.

"But on "Rust," the guns were locked up every night and at lunch, and Gutierrez Reed had no idea how the live round that killed director of photography Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza got on set, Gutierrez Reed's attorneys say in their statement"

Alec Baldwin shooting: 'Rust' armorer Hannah Gutierrez says she doesn't know how live ammo got on set, according to attorneys - CNN

Had Alec Baldwin followed the three same gun safety rules that most American gun owners know by heart, then it wouldn't have been possible for this to happen.

And yet reporting has said that gun safety was “lax”

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10...ez-reed-breaks-silence-alec-baldwin/100582450

The question is +- where did those live rounds come from?

The same place the occassional live round I find in my guns come from. Who the F knows (human error). Which is why the first thing I do when I pick up any gun is check to see if its loaded. Every. Single. Time.

If someone had not brought live ammunition to the set , this tragedy would not have happened. Rules were broken.....and a lot of sloppiness occurred. Not a tightly run operation......
