The trucker protest that closed traffic on the Ambassador Bridge entered its fourth day early Thursday, with increasing disruptions to the auto industry and calls from officials to end it.
There's no indication when the standoff will end, or what — exactly — truckers are seeking.
In fact, Canadian Trucking Alliance said Thursday that the protests are not peaceful and many of the vehicles and people involved in the protest are not heavy trucks or people in the trucking industry.

"Our communities and automotive, manufacturing, and agriculture businesses are feeling the effects," she added. "It’s hitting paychecks and production lines. That is unacceptable."
Stephen Laskowski, president of the Canadian Trucking Alliance, said the "patience of drivers and the vast majority of the trucking industry regarding these blockades has long-since expired."

    (Emphasis added)

This situation is getting more outrageous and ridiculous by the day.
These "protests" have evolved into a movement which has been hijacked by disruptive elements just generally dissatisfied with the Trudeau Government.
People who have nothing to do with the Trucking Industry.
"many of the vehicles and people involved in the protest are not heavy trucks or people in the trucking industry."

At this point, it truly has become an International Incident, and the Canadian Government really needs to take any action necessary to clear these truckers from disrupting commerce in such an egregious manner.

But the left thought it was perfectly fine when BLM and other protesters were blocking roads and bridges...

The irony of her statement is thick, just like her skull. She's a moron and it shows. Lockdowns and mandates have done the same. Add the summer of love for some flavor. A little self awareness is a good thing.

Lockdowns and mandates have disrupted the economy more than these truckers could ever hope to. They are just pissed that the truckers aren't backing down...

What the truckers are doing is actually peaceful. Stores aren’t being looted and burned down, people aren’t being pulled from their cars and beaten because they’re white, and no one is being murdered.

Instead of being a complete hypocrite, Whitmer should be taking notes on how peaceful protests are done.

    :bored:
    No comparison WHATSOEVER....
    What an Epic "Whataboutism" FAIL...:bored:

The situation involving the Ambassador Bridge is unique.

What began late last month as long-haul truck driver demonstration in Ottawa, Canada's capital, to protest vaccine-related border mandates imposed by the Canadian government has turned into an international affair with shutdowns of major gateways in Detroit and Port Huron the between the U.S. and Canada.
In Detroit, traffic from Canada is open, but going into Canada over the bridge is a problem, especially for commercial traffic which has been re-routed to the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, about an hour away, which also has become congested.

Trudeau needs to grow some balls, and call in the Canadian Armed Forces.

The tactic is a brilliant one at that. A car is relatively hard to move and a few protestors can hold an area down for a relatively long time. Though the financial cost of the tactic is interesting as well. Perhaps they don’t think they will be ticketed or their cars removed?

What if the cars start ramming into police or others? Tear gas and other chemical irritants aren’t as effective either. I think the only way to solve this problem is to “starve them out”.

If Trudeau called in the Armed Forces, he would just be proving to the world what we already know. That's he a corrupt, fascist, liberal weakling that has to resort to violence. And it would only escalate from there. You want to see pissed off and disruptive? Go ahead and call in the military and find out...

I guess the truckers need to start looting and setting stores on fire and pulling other drivers out of their vehicles to beat their ass, so the left would then approve...

All fascist governments rule by fraud and force. When the fraud is revealed, they have nothing left but force...

If I was Trudeau, I would take my chances and let the chips fall.

And that whole "resorting to violence" shtick is utter BS.:bored:

"Yo man, girls are being raped in the street. But, if I run into the street and stop the guys doing it, then I might be accused of "resorting to violence". Gotta let them be, I guess"

Give me a break with that whole "resorting to violence" BS.
"Yo man, they had to "resort to violence" to stop Hitler. They shoulda just talked him out of it".

At this point, the actions of these truckers, and those who have joined the protests (who have nothing to do with trucking), and the disruptions they have caused--Amounts to Domestic Terrorism.

Trudeau CAN NOT give into the "demands" (whatever they are) or it would be the equivalent of negotiating with terrorists.
    Time for an Ultimatum.
Or, Military Action will be Necessary.
Unless Canada wants this to continue indefinitely, there is no other choice.
    End of story.

Your panic is palpable. Comparing truckers just sitting there not doing anything but holding up traffic to "girls being raped in the streets". And, of course, the only other standby that liberals have, comparing anything or anyone they don't like to Hitler and the Nazi's...

And by your metric, BLM and other protesters are also domestic terrorists...

The post above misses the entire point.
These "protests" are disruptive far beyond the things that were referenced.

Long story short, those trucks aren't going anywhere unless the truckers want them to...

As usual, a complete (and egregious) misunderstanding of my post.
But, my motto remains the same:
Everyone just needs follow PF's Rules of Civility (and Avoid Personal Insults and Obvious Trolling) and one is free to express any "opinion" that they want at PF.

Misguided off-topic "Whataboutism" (involving BLM) won't cut it in this thread.
But, one is always free to start a separate thread about the scourge of BLM (instead of posting off-topic in this one).
And, obviously, any reference to "Godwin's Law" is beyond laughable.
^Both of the above examples illustrating an egregious misunderstanding of my post.

IF I was Trudeau, I would issue an ultimatum to disperse.
And then (as a last resort) call out the Canadian Military to forcefully end this impasse.
BUT, since I am not Trudeau, I guess all of us will find out together how this ends.
    Thoughts, Prayers, and Godspeed.

Trudeau won't do jack squat. Members of his own party are calling him out on the mandates...

Watching the hypocrisy from the left is always entertaining. It's like an Olympic event trying to keep up with all of the hypocrisy and excuses for such.

Their vehicles should be impounded until they pay big enough fines to cover the income losses of the companies they are impeding and the workers whose jobs they are impacting. Of course, I wouldn't envy anyone who had to do those calculations!

You can't impound what you can't move. And take it from a fellow truck driver, if we don't want you to move our truck, it isn't going anywhere...

That's another nightmare in its own. I have a friend who is a retired logistics engineer. She could probably sort it out, but its beyond my pay grade. I'm simply opining on what I think would be a fitting punishment for causing so much chaos.
