I studied it decades ago and can't revisit that level of hatred again. I have PTSD and the last discussions prior to his first command has been triggering me for weeks so the "dots connected" immediately.

I can't recall where at the moment, but did you see that somebody posted that Putin and his family have gone to an underground bunker?

Also, if you were throwing darts, where would you put China? I know they are licking their lips over Taiwan but I haven't seen anything definitive pro_Russia or pro-Ukraine.

I hadn't heard that about Putin's family, but it makes sense. Riots in the streets against her husband... and I'm sure Russia has its share of crazies as all nations do (including us). It might be smart for her to take on a single, trusted, security team in a fortified place.
China? They are seriously backing Russia economically... with both finances and trade. That's all for their own benefit, obviously. The stronger they keep Russia, the weaker they keep us and western Europe. The near term goal for China is Taiwan. The weaker we are, the better things are for a Taiwan invasion. It looks like Putin has goals that stretch into all of Europe. It looks like China has goals that embrace the entire world.

I try not to make assumptions about people or read into what they say. However, this time was the exception. I fully anticipated that would be the direction of your answer. I was hoping I was wrong but I'm just a former cop. You served and saw this up close.

Thanks for taking the time to explain it.

Equating American generals with foreign generals doesn't wash. I was in Iraq and thought it was a noble effort, just like most of the folks around. I was there as a contractor after retiring from the Army. A young soldier who was getting a medical discharge, approached me looking for a job. He wanted to stay in Iraq "until the job was done". Everyone I met there... including Generals... felt the same way. (I must note that I was the "Oldest West Point Graduate" in Baghdad in 2004 and spoke at the annual "Founder's Day" dinner there... so... yes... I know/knew a few Generals.)

OUR generals are loyal and well disciplined. The generals of other nations? Often are quite different.
(I must add... this could be changing... the insidious left is encroaching on freedom and patriotism... even in he military. I can see it. Without comment I will state that Lloyd Austin is a West Point classmate of mine.)

Its not that complicated. This has zero to do with fear over NATO. Putin wants to extend the borders of Russia to incorporate all predominantly ethnic Russian populations as well as those geographic areas where the Russian language is spoken and those historically controlled by Moscow. He wants to be the leader to bring greater 'Pan Russia' back under one Russian flag. The fact this includes valuable farm or forest land, natural or mineral resources and industry is a nice little treat too. He's going to gobble up Moldovia, Georgia and possibly strips of Latvia, Lithuania, who knows Poland again? He's going to want to rush his timetable a bit faster than he has been between Crimea and Ukraine as the grim reaper comes closer to his bedside.

The real punishment for him will be a cascade of European nations rushing to gain NATO membership before he can recoup his losses in this war. That is the only real way to make him think twice.

Ok, another permanent "Biden bad" noise maker. We get it. No discussion or debate, just "Biden bad".

    Got it. Goodbye.

Nobody precluded you from answering the questions. Did they?
Where did you come up with no discussion or debate when faced with a question?

What message would Putin get when Biden released the sanctions on NS2 pipeline allowing him to stranglehold Europe with his gas supply?
What message would Putin get when Biden refused to send weapons to Ukraine?

    Someone is paying attention.

This stuff is being very deliberately kept out of Western media, and people are walking around utterly oblivious as a result. The two mega-nations are positioned to launch at this specific time, because the West reached implosion point during the Pandemic. The collapse of Western societies will make it a cake walk. When the various peoples have given up all sense of cohesion and obligation, and their Govts have long since lost the brass to rule for stoicism and utility, you can take nations with little effort.

I read a news story this morning about prisoners not having their dietary preferences catered to while incarcerated. That's where the West is at. China and Russia recognise that as an invitation to be rolled over and ****ed sideways.

Putin is corrupt, indeed. So is Joe Biden, but Biden is mentally challenged, weak, and gullible, unlike Putin.

Speaking of Stupid and Crazy: The West’s Green Delusions Empowered Putin: While we banned plastic straws, Russia drilled and doubled nuclear energy production.
We need much more intelligent folks in charge than these three dummies.

Notice that they claim to have crippled Russian ability to pass money through the international banking structure... yet we can still buy millions of barrels of oil from them and pay Russia.

IT'S ALWAYS NICE WHEN EVERYONE IS ON THE SAME PAGE: Psaki contradicts Pelosi: Sorry, but we don’t support a ban on Russian oil imports.

But then we drop the hammer on the Russkis: Disney Removes “Anastasia” from US Disney+ Platform.

THE LID: Poll: Most Voters Don’t Think Biden Effectively Responded To Ukraine Crisis.

    Stand by for Hashtag bombs.

As Ace of Spades writes, we’ll ban Russian cats — “But… we will continue buying Russian oil, and we will consider buying Iranian oil too. We will not even consider increasing domestic US energy production. Because we’re That Serious…the centrist, moderate Joe Biden continues following the sage advice of Noted Petrostrategic Genius Sandy Cortez.”

We are in the very best of hands. The best and brightest, only they are complete idiots.
