Well for me it looks like a bad call but I can't tell enough from that footage to know so I will await further information. If I had the armed police and a canine at my door I wouldn't be reaching for anything, I'd have my hands up and be following their directions meticulously. I think it should be policy that an officer holding a canine should not also be holding a gun.

 

I disagree.
I’ve held my k9’s lead while being first in serving these warrants. Your dominant hand holds your weapon and your lead hand is empty when the dog is let. This is in case the idiot, the guy shot, could point a weapon at yourself or your dog in which case he gets drilled to prevent further death.
Of course if he’d been a law abiding person and didn’t have felony warrants this would never have happened.

You make a good point. It seems those police dogs really want to get at the bad guys and it would seem it could distract from closely observing the perps actions while trying to hold back an aggressive dog. But I can also see why it could be best for the canine officer to be the lead and that the lead does need to be armed.

 

He certainly wasn't innocent, but his prior illegal criminal actions led to him be put into a situation where he was highly likely to be shot in a high stress attempt to arrest him. Too! many cops get shot and killed in these types of encounters, but we never hear any Liberals crying about the Cop killed was innocent before being murdered. That's why this rhetoric with Liberal Democrats get so old, because they care more for the murderous violent thugs rights than that of innocent law abiding citizens and police officers.

 

Getting old? Get used to it. Since the anticop movement got a toe-hold in Congress, this will be the new normal.

 

It is now painfully obvious that the right is embracing the concept of police executions. Why bother with arresting and having someone go through the process outlined in the constitution? If the right had their way, they’d gut the whole document and have a 2nd amendment free for all style life.

 

I’d never know had I not had one. Once you breach you and the dog are #1 in the stack and while he/she may be really ready to take the bite your focus is on the clown you’re trying to secure. You’re also usually the first guy to take incoming when things go poorly.
Things happen so fast the camera can’t really take everything in proportionally to give context. And you really, really don’t want your best fuzzy friend getting shot! Which you already knew, of course.
All this idiot had to do was not commit crimes or hide from the cops, but you know that story as well.

Whenever there's a Black criminal shot by a Police officer, the Left goes out of their minds with nonstop coverage and looking for every tidbit they can find to try and prosecute the Officers involved, BUT! when it's a Police officer murdered, the Leftist media does everything it can to hide the identity of the murderous thug and limit to the minimum the amount of coverage the story gets.

 

No different than Liberals supporting Criminals with shitty attitudes and giving them the lightest sentences possible. Conservatives support the Police and law abiding citizens who wish to carry a firearm to protect themselves, Liberals support violent Criminals and believe they have more rights to carry a firearm to carry out their violent behavior. That's the difference between Republicans and Democrats and why Liberal led cities have the worst criminal behavior and murder rates.

He wasn't identified before being shot. There were others in that apartment so the person in the bedroom could have been anyone. The officer would not have known if that person was law abiding and didn't have felony warrants.

Caveat: I'm not able to view the video. I don't really care that he was shot, luckily it was the person they were after

 

That said, we want to bring culprits to justice so we can try them, and we can't do that if every officer's first reaction is to use lethal force. The opening of the door did not result in a situation where this officer had to use lethal force.

 

Conservatives supporting the police. Yep, he's not going to fall over!

There is nothing in this vid that shows this officer went to kill anyone. That’s absurd.

 

They identified themselves in the living room area before opening the door.

 

Those “men” are brothers, fathers, husbands and sons.

 

He was law-abiding. A warrant does not convict.
