Elizabeth the Second has passed away. I am Canadian. She is of course the Queen I knew for my 66 years of life. Now Most people in the US may not even know she is our Queen and the Queen of Australia and New Zealand as well as the UK. I appreciate the 70 years she put in day in day out always doing things for people and the state. I also liked how she fixed trucks during WW2, loved horses and dogs. I never did get around to meeting her to tell her that she should not let her family shoot foxes and she should arrest Meaghen Markle and put her in the tower. I actually feel a bit of a loss.
Or George VII….he hasn’t decided on his moniker yet. Personal note: The Queen was crowned on the day I was born. No monarchist here, but I do have a sense of nostalgia in her passing…
It's the end of an epoch. The second Elizabethan age 1952-2022. She kept her promise to serve the people of Britain and the Commonwealth for the rest of her life. From her first public speech in 1940 to appointing her last Prime Minister 2 days ago. I don't think you need to be an ardent royalist to admire and respect the Queen.
