Ahead of an expected deluge of Republican probes, Hunter Biden has retained high-powered defense lawyer Abbe Lowell to help navigate congressional oversight, according to another attorney for the president's son.

The Department of Justice is currently probing the younger Biden over whether he paid sufficient taxes on income he received while serving on the board of directors of a Ukrainian natural gas company, as well as the manner in which he paid off tax obligations in recent years.

Congressional Republicans last month unveiled plans to push ahead with an investigation into President Joe Biden's family once the GOP takes control of the House in January. Lawmakers said their primary focus will be finding out whether the elder Biden was more involved in his son's dealings than previously known.

Apparently Hunter doesn't think this is the nothing burger some make it out to be. I think he's going to need a good lawyer, and also a good PR person too. Will be interesting to see if Joe tries to distance himself. Also will be interesting to see if democrats distance themselves from Joe.

I expect every member of Congress involved in this investigation to be investigated themselves in an attempt to shut them down.

True, but maybe not since democrats don't have complete control anymore. Also I think the spotlight onto this corruption is starting to shine very bright so maybe they have to play it a bit more careful. We will see.

I wasn't referring to Democratic members of Congress, other than their extended arm in the criminal investigation of the DOJ and FBI.

Consider how Garland threatened parents over school issues.

That's what I am referring to as well. I think as they lose political power, those extended arms don't go quite as far.

As long as they have members embedded within the departments at the top levels they don't have to actively direct them. I use to work for a company that believed in a self directed workforce. As long as you know the agenda and agree with it you don't need someone pulling your strings. You've already been programmed.

Garland is a Biden ally and he will never allow Hunter to be prosecuted for any real crimes. If push comes to shove, they will get him on a small tax evasion charge, make him pay a small fine and sweep everything else under the carpet stating they did a full investigation, turned over every rock and charged accordingly. Which is complete and utter BS. Garland/Biden and The FBI already have this worked out and they can also use this to throw the book at Trump or others stating: "See, we also prosecuted The Presiden't son, we are not partisan or biased, nobody is above the law".

It's all a sham and until the rotten corruption is cleaned out, nobody who deserves to prosecuted will suffer any kind punishment. However, persecution of those that defy the party or are looking to uncover and root out corruption will have the full weight of the government come aft them. It's tyranny and it's perverting the intent of why our country was even founded.

Garland is indebted to Biden for giving him a prominent position in the criminal investigation department since he was denied a spot on the SC. He'll never bite the hand that feeds him.

I am glad the pre-conspiracy theories have already come out before anything has even happened.

Sounds like you feel the office of the President shouldn’t be allowed to choose the heads of investigatory agencies as it leads to a conflict of interest.

I wonder where this sanity was previously?

Probably on his taxes. I am being redundant, tax issues with drug addicts is not that uncommon.

Exactly. People have to also remember that Garland harbors a grudge toward Republicans who kept him off the SC.

Wise move on Hunter Biden's part. And hiring an attorney does not mean he is guilty or innocent, but to protect his Constitutional rights when taking questions from the committee under oath.

You mean how Barr should be indebted to Trump or Sessions indebted to Trump for giving them a "prominent position in a criminal investigation department?"

No, that would be asinine. Garland was a federal judge, a good lawyer, etc. He has not harbored a grudge. He is just following what the evidence leads to and why he appointed a special prosecutor to oversee the Trump criminal probes.

But then again, you are projecting here, tremendously.

He's shown his pettiness tendency when he went after parents voicing their grievances at school board meetings, branding them as domestic terrorists. Anyone who thinks like that doesn't deserve trust.

So you are suggesting that the GOP-led oversight committee is intended to violate his constitutional rights when asked under oath?

Anytime you are dealing with any legal issues, I would recommend a lawyer.

Poor Hunter Biden, the man is going to be hounded for the rest of his life. The right got tired of chasing the Clintons so now they have fixed their eyes upon thee. So far I have seen nothing to point to any malfeasance on his part other than some minor issues. But we will have to endure this reincarnation of the Benghazi farce....getting a good attorney sounds to me like a practical move in the face of this zealotry over dick picks.

Those parents he was "going after" were making direct threats to the members of the school board, other parents who disagreed with them, etc. That is a potential criminal violation, local or federal, and should be looked in to.

I wouldn't be surprised if Barr, Sessions, and Garland get together at poker parties where they practice their poker faces on each other.

I do think Hunter Biden violated some tax laws, but not to the extent the right is going after from everything from his past drug habbits to his business dealings that appear to be legit. Hunter is just a better business man than Trump and that is why the GOP are upset.
