Even with the new regulations that will go in play, it will still be "rare" because it will not include people using those services to send money to family and girlfriends/boyfriends both here and abroad.

I like how you keep trying to change the argument.

Anyone who uses a third party payment service to buy or sell any good or service that is over $600 will get reported to the IRS.

I think it's pretty obvious to anyone with two brain cells that $20,000 and 200 transactions is far more rare than $600 and one transaction.

I mean since it's poor people who are already audited more...right now.

I am not changing the argument. From my perspective, I don't think you understand how audits work or why, and why we have information returns whether they are 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, or any other 1099 form. The specific regulations you are citing is with the 1099-K form, which is credit card transactions. And I gave you the code sections for that.

there might be a lot less corruption in Washington if the IRS was gone, because then it would be a lot harder for politicians on both sides to steal money from Americans in general.

They do have a multitude of ways to take money, and the complexity hides the scope of it. I think most Americans just want honesty and transparency in the process of taxation and spending.
They owe that to us, anything less is there to hide something.

We should all be willing to pay our fair share of running the nations governance, and I don't object to paying taxes- but I object to my taxes being wasted, and not providing the value per dollar they should. I object to unfair taxes, to the incompetence that is inevitable when things are made so complex that nobody, including the IRS, understands the rules.
