So what you're saying is if 3 guys break into your house you're just going to let them do whatever they want, up to include killing you.

Sounds like a great plan to reduce the amount of crime in a country.

Should your military be less macho if another country decides to invade? Maybe they just want to take all your TVs.

    Straw man army.

Don't blame me for the escalation, you're the one that picked up the bat.

So immigrants are too dumb to know what personal or private property is? This is exactly what liberal racism looks like.

Burglars break in when no one is home, otherwise it's a home invasion. And just because they only want my TV doesn't mean squat to me, my crystal ball is in the shop and trusting them to only take my TV and not kill me seems foolish as they just broke in to my house.

I'd love to see what Russians are likely to use, any knowledge you feel like sharing?

So what you're saying is if there weren't 70k defensive gun uses the first graph would be 550k firearm victimizations instead of 480k.

Thanks for explaining how we prevent 70k people from being victims every year.

That's of course a leftist source using the lowest possible number they could manufacture for defensive usage.

Please explain why you would like to see more people victimized.

I would like to know what kinds of guns are common in Russia. Do y’all have a bunch of Rugers and Remingtons around or is it mainly Mauser type firearms?

We are talking about the example which I gave, - a 250lb man against a 110lb unarmed woman (a Karen). You are claiming Texas law would allow you to gun her down before she even touches you. If that was the case, then in Texas there does not need to be threat of great bodily harm or death.

However, Texas law does have limitations to use of deadly force, and use of deadly force in this example would result in murder charge against you.

Really. Wow. I never heard that before, but I'll take the word of a closet leftist for it.

There is such thing as mutual combat, but if you knock the other guy out and then kill him with a bat, then you will be charged with murder.

In home invasion scenario, any force is reasonable.

    US law also says no.

This Texas man for 15 yrs for doing that, and the first shot was not even in the back.

Fort Worth homeowner shot at unarmed thief 5 times, killing her, murder warrant says

Correct, but it seems some people day-dream about shooting people in the face, which explains (at least partially) why they think the way they do.

    That's odd...

"The Trace" never contacted me and forgot to include the 3 times I had to use a firearm to save my life.
I also contacted a friend who used a pistol to save a woman who was being stabbed to death and "The Trace" didn't contact him either.

Off the top of my head, I can think of at least 5 other people I know who have had to deploy a firearm to save either themself or someone else.

That's 8 defensive uses that are conveniently omitted and I'm just one person out of about 330 million Americans.

If just 1 person in 10 has used a firearm to defend themselves that would make about 33 million defensive gun uses as opposed to grossly under reported 70,040.

Even if you combine the fraudulent figure of 70,040 and 33 million and divide the total by half, you still have millions more defensive gun uses than "Firearm Victimizations".

I hope that you are never in a position in which you wish you had an effective firearm and I also hope that you will stop making criminal life easier for rapists, home invaders and street thugs.

Please remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away......if they come at all.(*)

    Thanks,

I dont know anyone who had to use a gun to defend him/herself. So, you are saying these 8 people shot someone in self defense and didn't report it to the police? Wow.

It certainly is an outstanding anomaly - especially when we consider the research on what people SAY is a “Defensive Gun Use”(DHU) and what has been analysed
    https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/hicrc/firearms-research/gun-threats-and-self-defense-gun-use-2/

Not saying this is the case here but 8 incidents does seem anomalous

I'm not interested in guns, so I don't know for sure. They mainly sell hunting rifles or magazine-mounted rifled carbines. I can't say which brands are more popular, but they are probably Russian, because they are cheaper. As far as I know, they don't sell pistols.

Its 8 shootings where the shooters didn't even report it to the police. Maybe they just got rid of the bodies and moved on like nothing happened.

I don't know if you are familiar with the WW 2 era, semi automatic, Russian SVT-40 which fires the 7.62 X 54R round from a detachable, box magazine. It also has an adjustable gas release system for different climate extremes.
Most Russian soldiers were armed with the very basic but reliable Mosin Nagant bolt action rifle which didn't function as smoothly as the German Mauser Mod. 98k that was issued to most German soldiers.

I read that the less sophisticated Russians would discard their more complicated SVT-40s and pick up the simpler and smoother functioning Mauser bolt action Mod 98k.

Meanwhile, many of the more sophisticated German soldiers preferred the captured, semi automatic SVT-40s over their slower bolt action Mausers.

I've seen photos of German soldiers carrying SVT-40s and have no reason to disbelieve this information.

    Oh! Dear!

How wrong is this post - let me count the ways……

    1. Not Obama’s anything - certainly Obama himself never did a “study”
    2. There was a research paper commissioned by the CDC ain 2013 to look into what research was current on gun use in fact it was titled
Priorities for Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence
National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. 2013. Priorities for Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence.
    3. The one that was cherry picked and misrepresented by hoplophiles?
    4. The one whose ACTUAL conclusion was that more research was required?

is that what you are talking about?

Is that codified in Aussie jurisprudence, or are you just making that up? That is certainly not the case in the states. Regardless, it's an asinine proposition that presumes a victim guilty until proven innocent. I feel sorry for the rape victims in your country. Sounds like they all had it coming.

    The one that clearly states:

    "Defensive Use of Guns

Defensive use of guns by crime victims is a common occurrence, although the exact number remains disputed (Cook and Ludwig, 1996; Kleck, 2001a). Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million"

    Yes.
