You are probably being facetious, but the answer is pretty simple: Republicans & others on the Right, outnumber Democrats/the Left, on this forum. I have been told that this is a pretty common phenomenon, on other such forums. If I may translate your "anti-Latino" citation to, more specifically, refer to immigrants from South & Central America, then there is no real mystery to the thread subjects, as they reflect the conservative tendency to over-generalize and to paint things in an unrealistically black-&-white manner, as well as to dislike the unfamiliar, and so change, in the main. Hence, southern immigration is seen largely as illegal immigration-- which, of course, a good deal of it, is-- and these immigrants are characterized, predominantly, according to the worst looking news stories, about any given, illegal immigrant (as, the recent Texas shooter, or Latino gang members, like MS-13), all crystalized in the emblematic phrase of their leader, Donald Trump: "And some, I assume, are good people."*

This, of course, also explains the irrational fear and loathing of minorities, who challenge their idealized images of how things should be (like the trans community). And it partly explains what comes across as a racial bias, in not wanting to upset the American Myth, with "uncomfortable" truths, particularly about blacks, from history. But if we are being honest, it goes beyond that.

It is now, I think, the predominant view among Republicans, that racism no longer exists, or, that it is currently hurting whites, more so than blacks and other minorities. The GOP has circled the wagons, around its European, Christian, paternalistic (to put it nicely), straight, white American society; and all else is seen as either a threat, or as something to be depicted as a threat, in order to sway others to that mode of thinking, hence winning them political advantage-- with the hope of being able to use that ladder to power, so they may mold the society, into their golden American image.




* I wish to make clear, Trump did not create this culture, only capitalized upon it, and gave it the legitimacy to flourish in a fuller measure, that it had. He dumped fertilizer, you could say, on the GOP.

First of all if “check your privilege” is the only reply you have to a white person saying everything is and always has been equal” then you have no argument to begin with.

Secondly, yes it’s rude because it’s a comment designed to silence speech. If the person is uneducated on the matter and you are so educated on it then provide your counter argument rather than trying to racially shame someone to a corner.

Not sure if it matters if it is rude or not. It matters if it is effective as a tactic. Does it work to ask someone to keep their privilege in check if they are white? Aren't they far more likely to get defensive, and stubborn than to contemplate your request?

The term "white privilege' is just jealousy towards the success of white people, or using white success to divide us as a nation and stymie progress. It's a very stupid card to play, seeing that were it not for whites, our nation wouldn't even exist. One might as well curse ones own self as to utter such nonsense as white privilege. It is devil worship. Poor Satan was cast down from heaven. Now he wants us under his feet for his glory. White privilege means I shouldn't speak because I am white. Yet I do. And that I do isn't a white privilege, but a right to all Americans to speak and do as best they can. Do I offend Satan? Then let him be offended...and burn at the prospect. In the end, the God of America will put him away forever. Let him consider that and scream maniacally. Adios traitor.

 

An accusatory proclamation without substantiation clearly has no standing. That makes your fact a law unto itself, a false God to fawning boot lickers.

I’ll rank someone telling me to check my privilege right up with check my aura. If I did have any white privilege I’d put a boot in someone’s ass just for bringing it up.

 

It’s not rude to ask nor is it rude to refuse. White people built the modern world. if black people can enjoy their privileges, of affirmative action and DEI, why can’t we enjoy the privileges of a modern world that we created?

 

Last week I went to an Olive Garden for the first time. When I asked for my white privilege discount both the waitress and the manager seemed very confused. They really should get with the times.

 

The argument for white privilege is rooted in a flawed premise which is a disguise - a cover up for one’s inability to succeed or compete on equal grounds.
By claiming the nonexistent privilege that no one can prove or see and appealing to emotion of weak minded fools they think they have a claim on **** they don’t earn.
It’s a farce!
