Time to Get Real About Ukraine

Agreed, its just an article and offers a nuanced discussion. But my point stands, who cares. This is a limited element and used to push Russian propaganda. Even if it was common does it really make a difference, they are fighting for their country and for the west's benefit.

 

A well-grounded understanding of the phenomenon's history is the best antidote to Russian propaganda and provides important support to the Ukrainian cause.

Yeah, it’s probably only anti-Nokrainium propaganda led by Vlado Putin. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that the Nokrainiums wear Nazi uniforms, give the Nazi salute and pay homage to the Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera.

This is a general response to Russian propaganda accusing Ukrainians of being “ NAZIS” not a response to you.

Both of my parents were sent to German forced labor camps by the Germans-NAZIS. There were members of my extended family through marriage who were Jewish and they were killed by the Germans. Therefore I see NAZIS as nothing but evil. The article draws some inaccurate conclusions. Let’s start with the fact that yes there were NAZI collaborators in Ukraine just as there were in many other European countries. Hell Hungary, Rumania, and Bulgaria fielded divisions to fight along side of the Germans. Not good right.
The old Kremlin propaganda that the UPA fought along side the NAZIS is basically BS. There was a copycat so called commander ( forgave his name) who commanded a partizan group called the TARAS BULBA battalion m who wrongfully used the the name UPA. There were reports that his wrongfully named identified battalion as UPA committed murder/genocide in Volyn. That guy was told by the real UPA cease using the name UPA. His battalion melted away in the border areas of Ukraine and Belarus somewhere. There was a point when the Germans sent two SS divisions into Western Ukraine to fight the UPA in fixed battles. Now that is a great example of “collaboration”.
The so called “Galizjen” division did not in any way fight” along side the SS. That is a fiction created by Russian propaganda. There was a division of Ukrainians known as the Halychia ( Galycia) division. Due to the German chauvinism foreign ( foreign to Germans) formations where administered (set up) under Wafen. They never fought “alongside “ nor part of the SS, they fought along with the Wehrmacht. The Germans signed a contracts with the “Galycia” division the the divilian of Ukrainians would only fight the Russians and never fight the US or UK or other Western allies, Surprise the Germans kept their word.

Gorbashov had a fair idea of wanting to change the USSR into some quasi not too loose a “Union” of states with communism lite structure of course Moskva would be the center of power for foreign and military matters. The world changed faster than Gorbachov could propose a new direction so he ended up on the dustbin of history as the last king of the USSR.

Mariupol was the spiritual home of the Azov Regiment which helped Ukraine recapture the city from pro-Russian fighters in 2014. From 2014 to 2022, the Azov Regiment was based in the city of Mariupol until it was completely defeated by Russia.

 

Russia is doing exactly what they did in 2014 and 2015. They are shelling a Russian town after only evacuating 3000 people out of 40,000 people then hoping to blame Ukraine for the Russian artillery strikes. In 2014 we had people in Donna's openly admitting it was Russians who were shelling them because the Russian army is so incompetent they cannot advance any other way.

100% of this is completely the fault of the Russian invaders. If the fascist dictator Putin had not started an optional war of conquest then there would be no war.

 

So Russia opposition fighters are now "Ukrainian"? Maybe the fascist dictator Putin should worry about why so many Russians are willing to fight to end his evil dictatorship? Maybe Putin should stop having his poorly trained army shell Russian cities?

I hate to say it but it is June. Ukraine needs to either crap or get off the pot. Tick Tock. There was no spring offensive and it is now summer. Do or do not.

An example in meme format. Lots of threats about NATO getting its game on being a red line. Poles got their game on, Poles are part of NATO. Where is the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earthshattering, kaboom!

 

Looks like Russia has blown the dam on the Dnipro. Not clear yeat if it was a panicked local commander or an order from above. Crimea had better hope there is a LOT of water in that canal, because there isn't any more arriving once it is out and that dam isn't getting rebuilt while Russia occupies the east bank of the Dnipro. More short term thinking.

Cue the Putin squad with 'evidence' that it was Ukraine. You can set your watch by these folk.

 

We will see who has been propagandized. At least I leave myself windows in which I could be wrong on any number of angles. And I attempt to identify indicators that I can observe that show I'm wrong.

For example, I have assigned the destruction of the bridges over the Dnieper as an indicator of an imminent major offensive by one side or the other. Neither side would tolerate those bridges remaining intact if they suspected the other could be advancing toward them in a big way. They remain intact, so I suspect no game-changing movement yet. (Although the destruction of the major dam could indicate someone was about to make a major move)

I have set another indicator: how well Zelensky holds the reoccupied regions IF he is successful. I suspect that he cannot hold these regions as easily as Putin is now. But if I am wrong, we will see by observing the difference in the people's behavior now, and their behavior under a hypothetical Zelensky reoccupation.

A "well-grounded understanding of history" would have avoided our entanglement in a civil war that we don't belong in.
