I hope Putler quick-saved prior to the invasion. Reloading from the last checkpoint is probably best at this point.

Ukraine making progress in push to retake Bakhmut from Russian forces
Ukrainian troops have seized positions west of the city in the village of Klishchiivka.
    Michael Weiss and James Rushton
Mon, July 10, 2023 at 2:32 PM CDT

Russia’s grip on Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine appears to be loosening as Ukrainian forces continue their push to encircle and liberate the beleaguered city.

Home to 73,000 people before Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24 of last year, Bakhmut is now largely a pockmarked moonscape of blasted-out buildings. Having experienced some of the fiercest urban warfare Europe had seen since the end of World War II, the city was captured by Russian forces on May 20.

Since the launch of a spring counteroffensive, however, Ukrainian forces have begun operations around Bakhmut, making slow progress in southeast Ukraine, in the regions of Donetsk and Zaporizhia. There, Ukrainian forces, backed by NATO-supplied armor, have been probing for Russian weaknesses but have yet to make a serious breakthrough. Mainly their efforts have been hampered by extensive minefields, well-constructed Russian fortifications and the dominant presence of Russian aviation.

    ... https://news.yahoo.com/ukraine-maki...ke-bakhmut-from-russian-forces-193247662.html

Seems Ukraine is reversing in a couple of months what it took Piggy's Wankers all winter and thousands of dead prisoners and conscripts to take.

Dirty Socks and Rotting Bodies: What Russians Left Behind in the Trenches
    Andrew E. Kramer
Tue, July 11, 2023 at 6:55 AM CDT

NOVODARIVKA, Ukraine — A bottle of syrup made from Siberian berries, legions of dirty socks and a military-issued tea bag stamped with “For Victory!”

For Ukrainian soldiers, one advantage of achieving at least creeping advances in the now month-old counteroffensive in southern Ukraine is appropriating ready-made fortifications from the retreating Russians, who in months of preparations dug deep, well-protected trenches.

For the Ukrainians, eerily enough, it also means living and fighting in positions long held by the Russians — with a huge sprawl of military debris and personal items of Russian soldiers scattered about.

    ... https://news.yahoo.com/dirty-socks-rotting-bodies-russians-115528516.html

The #2 army in Ukraine is leaving behind quite a mess for the Ukrainians to mop up. Grim work, but it's got to be done.

By the way, it's kind of funny to me that they have items stamped with "For Victory!" when the state brand of Oceania in 1984 was none other than Victory.

That book is Bloodymir's instruction manual, I tell yas.

apologies this a double post...but I don't care....I've put this on the Ukraine ticker but it's well worth a wider watch....(not sure if you're all familiar with the Youtube Channel 1420) ...anyway his channel is based on him interviewing or asking a few questions of mostly younger Russians about the war and what they think of the war etc. When he's asking about the war specifically and Russia's prospects 90% of the people won't / can't answer or just get wary and scuttle off....go to 3.28....bearing in mind the country they live in this young lass, and the young lad that follows, are a bit more than frank about the war....and the future of Russia.....

she's a brave lass considering this is open source and.....well....it's monitored by Russia.....

    and FYI..the blurred couple...

Today, 7/12/2023, is day # 504 of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

The mop-up seems to be taking an inordinately long time.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

A senior Russian general in Ukraine is dismissed. Here's the latest on the war in Ukraine

    From CNN staff

A high-profile Russian general in command of forces in occupied southern Ukraine said he was dismissed from his post after accusing the defense ministry of betraying Russian soldiers by not providing sufficient support.

General Ivan Popov was the commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army, which has been involved in heavy fighting in the Zaporizhzhia region. He is one of the most senior officers involved in the Russian campaign in Ukraine.

The public resignation or dismissal of such a senior officer amid an open dispute over the conduct of the Russian campaign is unprecedented, according to analysts.

Here are other headlines you should know:

    • On the ground: Ukrainian forces are making further advances in the Bakhmut area and rebuffed Russian assaults elsewhere in the Donetsk region, according to officials. Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said that Ukraine's forces successfully held back the Russian offensive in the Kupyansk, Lyman, Avdiivka and Marinka directions — all areas of the front lines where the Russians have made repeated attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses.
    • Death of a general: A popular Russian state television program appeared to confirm the death of a Russian general in Ukraine. Ukrainian officials had claimed that Oleg Tsokov, the deputy commander of the Southern Military District, was among a number of Russians killed in a Ukrainian missile strike Tuesday. The attack was targeted on a Russian headquarters in the occupied city of Berdiansk, Ukrainian officials said. Independent analysts and CNN’s own tally indicate that Russia has lost about 10 generals in combat since the invasion began.

    • NATO summit takeaways: US President Joe Biden and G7 leaders unveiled a substantial show of support for Ukraine at the NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, offering a joint declaration of support for Kyiv aimed at bolstering the war-torn country’s military capability. However, there was still no invitation for Ukraine to join the alliance. In his nightly address after the summit, President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed optimism about Ukraine’s path to becoming a member of NATO. The Russian foreign ministry, for its part, said the NATO summit demonstrated that the alliance has "finally returned to the Cold War schemes.” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey would "be glad to act as a mediator" between Russia and Ukraine if the two countries agreed to such a proposition.
    • Military assistance: Estonia's prime minister defended her support for the United States' decision to provide Ukraine with controversial cluster bombs. And British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said that Kyiv's allies "want to see gratitude” from Ukraine for their support while recalling how he told Ukrainian officials during a visit to Kyiv in June of 2022 that the UK was not “Amazon” when he was given a list of weapons demands. Meanwhile, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged the US not to grow weary of Ukraine’s grinding battle against Russia.

The fascists clearly aren't much good at mopping up the Ukrainian military, but they're not totally incompetent at killing and otherwise disposing of their own. :)

Ukraine takes back 6 months of Russian gains in 5 weeks! Russian soldiers morale is reportedly very low. When beaten down by relentless attacks and forced to retreat, the Russian conscripts are forced by their own elite to go back to the front without ammunition. Never seen so many Generals replaced by any army as often as Russia does.

A total disregard for their own Russian civilians human lives. You must die for Putins ambitions! Just a matter of time as Russian society learns about this. Russia cannot withstand a prolonged war.
