"I want to understand exactly what happened yesterday," Newsom told reporters. "I take it very seriously."

Senator Grove issued a statement on Tuesday saying: "After passing the Senate with a unanimous, bipartisan vote, I had hoped Democrats on the Assembly Public Safety Committee, led by Assemblyman Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D-Los Angeles), would agree to make sex trafficking of a minor a serious felony."

"I am profoundly disappointed that committee Democrats couldn't bring themselves to support the bill, with their stubborn and misguided objection to any penalty increase regardless of how heinous the crime," she said.

Not too surprised here...just more lunacy. I thought I was on "The Onion" at first.

What is it the left frequently says, if you’re not against something then you’re for it. Or do they say silence is violence?

Let’s face it, CA is soft on crime, they’re trying to normalize sex with kids, and this bill most likely would have hit illegals the hardest if it was actually enforced.

The suffering is an acceptable price for votes.

Does it really surprise anyone that democrats who support mutilating kid’s reproductive organs, support the porn industry, support legalized prostitution are also supporting sex trafficking? There is nothing surprising here

At least they are not saying there should be exceptions to reporting child rape. That would be republicans.

Any individual that doesn’t support exhausting all efforts to remove child rapists from society are no better than the pedophiles themselves.

Hmm lets do a little tally and this is only with about a few weeks worth of info
    we got:
    - "we're here, we're coming for your children"
    - ABC pushing cartoons of 10 year old trans "girl" excited for "her" first dose of puberty blockers
    - outrage over a child sex trafficking movie based on true events
    - bills to HELP child trafficking crooks

Do we really need anymore proof that the party of pedophilia and child endangerment is also known as "THE LEFT"?

Do you have any theories for why on Earth Democrats would oppose this common Sense measure?

There is plenty of pedophilia in sex trafficking and here you are defending it

The dems on the committee objected to the 3 strikes penalties in the bill.

It wasn’t many Democrats actually, the Democrats in the senate voted for it by unanimous consent — the very Democratic governor supports it. It was actually on six democrats on a committee of eight that abstained and stalled the bill.

They stated the bill was vague as to what constitutes child trafficking (I don’t know if this is true as I haven’t read the bill) and they also disagreed with the three strikes provision.

I can agree with them that bills do not ever need to be vague or else we have what is going on in Tennessee and Florida with courts striking down provisions due to these issues. I also disagree with the three strikes provision, child abuse, especially sexual, should be a one strike.

The bigger issue here is why should a committee be able to completely kill a bill with unanimous bipartisan support?

Highlight where I defended anything. I think anyone that harms a child or harbors someone that does deserves the ultimate punishment the law allows.

Don’t project your own positions onto others, that’s a sad and pathetic debate strategy even for someone of your caliber.

Tell us, should there be ANY exemptions to reporting child rape?

Oh but didn't you know, they say child trafficking is a Qanon conspiracy. They are pure evil spreading depravity everywhere.

Are you referring to a law that protects the confessional process in church? Cause if so yes I support protecting the freedom of religion and confessional processes are an important part of the church systems. Without them people would be denied the right to repent. It doesn’t protect criminals, it protects one’s right to religion.

It absolutely protects criminals. Someone could be raping a child daily and you would support the only person he told not reporting it because of jebus. The freedom of religion isn’t the freedom to rape children.

Sickening. Thanks for the quote though

If they were raping repeatedly then that law would not protect them. The purpose of a confession is to repent and never do it again. If that were to happen as you suggest it would void the confessional status even in the eyes of the religion. Technically the priest or bishop would be protected from prosecution not the person committing the crime. It doesn’t protect the criminal, it protects the person who is conducting a confessional.

This law they blocked protects the criminal from harsher punishment…. That’s right, democrats protected the criminal

Right! They're saying that ALL human trafficking crimes should get a slap on the wrist.

That’s not what the law says. But feel free to continue to put superstition over children.

They are not saying people do not have to report, they are not saying that people shouldn’t be charged. They are simply saying they do not agree with three strike laws.

A child rapist shouldn’t be given a second chance, unless they believe in your imaginary sky friend of course.

Actually a rapist (child or not) should be sent to death row in my opinion. But the person who is sworn to secrecy in a confession should not be held liable.

And yet Democrats are worried about the ethics of the Supreme Court Justices while those same Democrats have no morals or ethics at all. Democrats destroying the United States one day at a time.

Its funny you people call everyone you don’t like groomers while worshiping a religion that hides actual pedophiles.

Every republican accusation is a confession
