What is going on there? Isn't the military supposed to defend against external enemies and not get involved in internal affairs? They say the situation is bad but how bad? 10 gang-related murders in a month for a 10 million country does it really sound like a catastrophe? Is it really a solution for every country - just use military and get rid of the organized crime. Would it work in America with estimated 2 million gang members?

 

Each member of the US armed forces swears to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

 

Domestic enemy is some sort of dictator, not a street gang. Or is it?

 

How did I know before I even went to the link, this was caused by some of that " diversity " they imported?

 

Just 15 years ago Sweden was reportedly one of the safest and desired places to live. Welcoming refugees at will is destroying that country. I feel sorry for Swedish citizens for having to deal with idiots in charge.

I'm not a lawyer, but I was a professional Soldier. To me, any entity that threatens the government qualifies. The huge cartels that are sending millions of illegals across the border qualifies. "Posse Comitatus" laws limit how much our military forces can do inside the borders of the United States but it gets a little fuzzy. The Defense Intelligence Agency routinely assists the FBI. Its difficult to imagine a domestic gang actually threatening the government, but who knows? And remember the Branch Davidians in Waco? The Army lent the FBI two Combat Engineer Vehicles to assault the compound. So it looks like a case-by-case decision.

 

I thought European countries didn't have crime problems because they don't have guns.

 

The same thing is going on in the US. As gazillions of immigrants flood western countries, the societies of those countries are dramatically changed. It's all planned, it seems to me. Illegitimate wars and the promotion of illegal immigration.

There are plenty of countries that don't technically ban guns but they make ownership all but impossible for the average person.

 

Please list them.

Gun ownership is down to you, and you alone. So you need a police record background that doesn't give rise for concern. You need to have a driving record that doesn't give rise for concern. You need a medical record that doesn't give rise for concern. And then you go, which gun or firearm would you like to buy?

If you give free for all guns for all, the undesirables cause horrific gun stats. That's why America has dreadful gun stats because of the 2nd amendment. Those that are fearful of a UK standard gun ownership know that they would fail it, that's a proven fact.

 

I think the only people that should be prohibited from ownership are those who are so mentally ill you wouldn't even want them to have a steak knife and those who have actually criminally misused firearms.

Banning everyone with a criminal offense even though they are non-violent is just another way of disarming the population.

No. If you have a suitable police record, a suitable driving record, and a suitable medical record, then own as many guns as you want. It's up to the authorities to have good reason for you not to have one. In the UK, you can sue the police and government and you would get a fair trial. The government often loses court cases.

So the police not giving you a gun licence because they don't feel like it is nonsensical at best.

Edit - There are only certain offences on your police, driving, and medical record that would support the case of you not owning a gun. If you jump over a farmers gate and stole a turnip, or broke the speed limit, or had an ingrowing toe nail; you are fine in owning a gun.

If you stabbed your grandmother with some scissors, or deliberately drove into a crowd, or had suicidal thoughts on your medical record; don't bother applying for a gun.

 

Sad. I had looked at travel packages for there and wondered why they are so much cheaper. No demand. People are afraid to travel there.

 

Sweden does seem to have a lot of grenades though.

Not to come down either way, on your question about using the military, within the country-- as I am both unfamiliar with Sweden's current crisis (which I'd come to your thread, in the hope of learning more about) as well as with the capabilities of their national police force, for starters-- I only wanted to point out to you, two things. First, the thousands of gun murders, to which we have become desensitized, in America, is unfathomable to nations like Sweden. If they were having mass killings once a week, or even just every month, they would consider it something requiring immediate action, unlike here, where these are a daily occurrence. And secondly-- though keep that first point in mind, in appraising this-- 10 gang-related murders in a month, in Sweden, is proportional to 320 gang related murders in a month, in the U.S. Again, the challenge for Americans, is going to be appreciating the concept that, in Sweden, even a single gang murder, is significant news.
