McConney is discussing the Trump Organization's relationship with Vornado, the real estate company. Trump lawyer Alina Habba objects to the questioning which she says is leading.

Andrew Amer, a lawyer for the attorney general's office, calls McConney a hostile witness. Habba says he is not a hostile witness and Engoron wryly says, "he is the defendant." The objection is overruled.

McConney admits Weisselberg asked for help in committing tax fraud
    [IMG]
    Lisa Rubin

Amer goes in for the kill, asking whether Weisselberg asked McConney on more than one occasion to assist him in committing tax fraud, McConney says yes.

McConney also admitted he was directed by Weisselberg to process a payroll check to Weisselberg’s wife, who was not an employee, so she could qualify for Social Security benefits.

But he says he did not know it was illegal, prompting Amer — who is ready — to show McConney his trial testimony from the Weisselberg/Trump Org. criminal trial last year, where he acknowledged he knew it was not lawful.

McConney said he kept engaging in this illegal conduct because Weisselberg was his boss and if he refused, he would probably lose his job. And with that, we are not only breaking for the day but McConney’s questioning is finished in dramatic fashion.

McConney denies he knew Mar-a-Lago's deed limited its value
    [IMG]

On valuations of Mar-a-Lago, backup data in 2011 and 2012 said the property could be sold as a private residence for $426.5 million and $531.9 million, respectively.

McConney confirmed that until around the 2016-to-2017 time frame, he understood the premise of the valuation to be that it could be sold as a private residence, but he also knew Trump’s purchase was subject to a deed with “some rules.”

But he denied that he knew the details of the deed with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, saying he never saw the document and therefore was not aware that Trump had deeded away the right to use the property for any purpose other than as a social club.

Financial statements contradict golf course valuations, including 'brand value' of 'Trump name'
    Lisa Rubin

The statements of financial conditions included that at least through 2016 and 2017, “The goodwill attached to the Trump name has significant value that has not been reflected in the preparation of this financial statement.”

McConney, however, has conceded that the golf course valuations routinely included a “brand premium” of 30% and later 50%, beginning in 2013.

    How about 500 million?
Trump likes that number according to Michael Cohen.

It's boring not knowing who's charged with what and not enough interest to look it up and not having followed Weisselberg's trial.
Definitely looking forward to Cohen's testimony.

'Trump Surrenders Again and Drops Desperate Lawsuit Against NY Judge'
'Trump dropped his bizarre suit against NY Judge Engoron who is overseeing the NY AG's civil fraud case'
'In a late-night filing Thursday night, Donald Trump dropped his bizarre and desperate lawsuit against New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron following the ex-president's disastrous week on trial.

Donald Trump made it roughly 2.5 days through the trial before fleeing not only the courthouse, but the entire state of New York.

Trump filed the lawsuit seeking a judgment under Article 78 of New York Civil Practice Law and Rules, one that would require the judge to end Attorney General Letitia James' civil fraud case and stop the summary judgment dissolving Donald Trump's New York companies.'

'Donald Trump's spokesperson released a disgraceful statement full of lies and gaslighting after the news was announced:'

'Given that President Trump is required to sit for deposition in a civil matter on Columbus Day, when he is scheduled to be in the Great State of New Hampshire, and while the President is fighting against the meritless claims that have been lodged against him in New York, Washington D.C., Florida, and Georgia, as well as continuing his winning campaign, where he is leading the Republicans by 60 points and Crooked Joe Biden by 11 points, to serve as our next President of the United States, President Trump has decided to temporarily pause his meritorious claims against Michael Cohen. Once President Trump has prevailed in dealing with the witch hunts against him, he will continue to pursue his claims against Michael Cohen, who rightfully deserves to, and will be held accountable for his unlawful words and actions just as the Southern District of New York held him accountable for numerous non - Trump related acts and crimes, making Cohen a very "proud" felon.

Michael Cohen released a statement via his attorney E. Danya Perry, Esq. of Perry law:

Great news out of the Southern District of Florida tonight: Rather than be deposed by Danya Perry on Monday, Donald J. Trump voluntarily dismissed his $500 million lawsuit against our client Michael Cohen. From: Michael Cohen: As I have said from the beginning: this case was nothing more than a retaliatory intimidation tactic, and his attempt to hide from routine discovery procedures confirms as much. Mr. Trump's cowardly dismissal spells the end of this latest attempt to deter me from providing truthful testimony against him. My legal team and I now look forward to turning our full attention to holding Mr. Trump accountable for his latest abuse of the legal system. More to come.'

Frankly, while Cohen may be one of the more interesting witnesses, it's always the quiet accountants and money people who end up doing the most damage.

Yes, and in return it will be Cohen who gets credence for much of what he's testified.
Awhile back Cohen, when talking with Ben @ Meidastouch had said that James has info/documents from him that people are unaware of.

Trump exec admits committing tax fraud because he feared getting fired
    Source: New York Daily News

NEW YORK — A former top Trump Organization executive Friday testified that he repeatedly committed tax fraud at the direction of then-chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg in a major blow to the defense at former President Donald Trump’s $250 million civil fraud trial.

The developments came as a federal judge in the case involving classified documents at Trump’s Florida estate honored a request to temporarily pause any litigation.

Ex-controller Jeffrey McConney first claimed he didn’t know it was illegal for him to dramatically overestimate the value of Trump-owned assets like golf courses, Trump Tower apartments and luxe real-estate developments.

But under sharp questioning, McConney admitted he previously testified under oath that he knew he was breaking the law. He claimed he feared being fired if he resisted Weisselberg’s demands.

"Trump’s fraudulent business has real victims in the form of the lending and insurance market. Michael Popok explains how the NYAG got her $250 million dollar disgorgement fine number and how banks and insurance companies were defrauded by Trump which is at the heart of the fraud trial of the century that started this week."

Yes COHEN is the best they got? HE is who she based this all on, the guy who is the convicted liar in the whole matter. You do know that if there was a jury here the judge would have to advise them that he has been convicted of lying and that his testimony is therefore not to be taken as truthful under oath.

He is NOT the "one she based this all on"?

Haven't you been paying attention? The former controller just testified. She has 28 people on her witness list, including Trump himself.

Hey, we finally got him to understand that it was Cohen's congressional testimony that got the ball rolling on our favorite fraudster.

Let's not undo all that progress.

However, seems Mikey is going to have his appearance delayed due to some pre-existing medical condition.

Tish will have to adjust accordingly. As you point out, no shortage of witnesses here..

    I’m sure.

I hope the Orange Stain keeps attacking the judge’s staff so he can get thrown in jail.
