No spin. You are literally outraged over something that doesn’t affect you.
I’m not outraged about the Carroll defamation case. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If anything I’ve had a good laugh over it.

Literally outraged? Show me. Nothing I said is even close to misgendering someone.

You’re complaining about a tax that doesn’t affect you. Ok fine you’re not outraged….but you’re certainly being whiny about it…certainly enough to start a thread about it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    1. What did you purchase? An excise tax is only levied against certain goods.

    2. The city tax is not a State of California tax.

    3. The California state sales tax is not 10%, it is 7.25%.

    https://www.avalara.com/taxrates/en/state-rates/california.html

"The California state sales tax rate is 7.25%. This rate is made up of a base rate of 6%, plus California adds a mandatory local rate of 1.25% that goes directly to city and county tax officials. Depending on local sales tax jurisdictions, the total tax rate can be as high as 10.25%."

Let's not get in a twist over petty crap.

Then don't make the purchase, eh? They don't place excise taxes on necessities.

Have you ever posted in a thread about trannies or drag queens? It might not impact you but those things among other get discussed around here.

That's a good question. I'm curious about that myself. Could you please post me an answer if/when you find out? Thanks.

Well least they got 10cent change.. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't start charging 50cent change handling and disinfection tax on all cash ;)

    https://usafacts.org/topics/economy/state/california/

    https://bulloak.com/blog/if-california-were-a-country/

"California's GDP in 2022 was $3.6T, representing 14.3% of the total U.S. economy. If California were a country, it would be the 5th largest economy in the world, and more productive than India and the United Kingdom."

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_tax_revenue_by_state

Many of your so-called red states receive more federal funding than they pay. Remember when Trump threatened to cut off federal law enforcement funding to California's sanctuary cities? Do you remember why that did not happen? Because even Trump realized that those cities, and California as a whole, receive very little in federal funding for LE, courts, and other functions involved in their justice system.

I could be wrong, but it looks to me like California is doing just fine.

I will ask the boss when he comes in early in the morning. He's an old man and he only comes in for about 20 minutes to do the books.

On a side note he's kind of a good friend of mine and he lets me take my dirt bike and ride on his 50 acres of private property. I want to get a better job but they're such a great family to work for... I'm not in a big hurry

California was in the bottom quintile in economic growth when compared to all states, and it has the largest budget deficit of any state in history. As I said, they're falling behind.

Making someone the personal topic is the refuge of people who can't debate whatever the subject is. There is a koala bear around here who knows a lot about it.

Only the voters? If only voters were the only people being taxed, no one would vote.

Wouldn't it be ever so much better for all of us if these folks paid their taxes?

    https://www.investopedia.com/financ...orations-get-around-paying-less-in-taxes.aspx

A flat tax is not a good idea unless you are wealthy.

    https://www.investopedia.com/articles/tax/09/flat-taxes.asp

"A flat tax could also give middle-class families an extra burden. For example, if you make $1 million per year and you pay 18% in taxes, you would still net $820,000, which still has great purchasing power. But if you made $50,000 per year, the same tax rate would net you $41,000 per year, which can be a financial strain."

What does a thread about trannies or drag queens have to do with you whining about a tax that doesn’t affect you?

True about Nevada. I much prefer the cannabis policies here in Colorado. Buy recreational and pay the taxes (which btw the state is making very good use of), or get a medical card, renewed each year, and buy the stuff tax free. If you have to gripe about the tax on pot, perhaps you should stick to alcohol. (Oh .... wait ... that stuff is taxed at both the state and federal levels, isn't it? Never mind.)
