I'll never understand that argument. First, each party had like 8 presidential candidates to choose from in the primaries. It's like the playoffs that narrow down to the final championship game. No candidate will ever check off all the boxes. Some candidates may only check off one box.

After seeing the disgusting behavior of Republicans and their refusal to convict a President that did NOTHING for several hours while our Capitol was being attacked is more than enough to make sure I vote for every Democratic candidate possible going forward.

Could you name the eight candidates in the Democrat field? I saw only three, and the establishment Democrats barred two of them.

Maybe, but we have a unique opportunity here. We have seen both as president and what they actually did; not what they might be.

I think I am going to jump on that opportunity and measure their actions and policies over what kind of personality they have or what I might think of their character.

But honestly, I am voting for Kennedy even though I hope Trump wins. Reason is I am in a 80 to 90% Democrat area and the best I could do is help make Biden lose an elector. My vote for Trump will never gain Trump an advantage. If Kennedy accidentally won, that's a pill I could swallow.

I would like that to happen but certainly won’t hold my breath waiting for it to happen. :)

I have never heard of five of them. There was one Republican I never heard of on my Florida mail in ballot. There were two no names who ran against Trump in the 2020 Florida primary.

Those candidates are less important than the “favorite son candidates” who used to run at the national conventions. At least those guys were there to trade their convention votes for favors.

There used to be a guy in New Hampshire who was on the ballot every four years who wore an Uncle Sam suit. He was a joke.

My basic approach is I'm not going to invite either over to watch the game and have a few beers. Nor, am I going to introduce either to my sister.

Voting is hiring a person for a job. Personality is far down on my list of qualifications. Although I assume almost every public utterance is a lie or spun beyond recognition, I try to determine each candidates position on the issues I consider more important, total up the score and vote for the guy/gal closest to me in the issues I feel are most important.

Personality is as much a part of them as any other quality. It affects their job and how they are perceived. Neither man has shown me an ounce of real judgment. Biden may be more tame than Trump, but he's a husk of a man. And Trump is even more unhinged and off his rocker now after he lost in 2020, and his faculties are on the heels of Biden's. Last thing I want is a senile vindictive narcissist in the White House. Neither of those men should be there and I won't use my vote to help either of them get there.

It's not all that funny probably if you're a 20 or 30 something year old gal living in a red state and need or just want an abortion.

While it’s still not the end of the world…I too feel for women in states where abortion options are limited.

Good on you. Look into smaller candidates, chances are there's someone who is close to your views.

Whoever figures out a way to prevent women from getting pregnant with out an abortion is going to make a lot of money.

That's horseshit. And displays bias, because in actuality President Biden has been a much better President that tRaitor tRump could hope to be. The only thing tRaitor tRump passed was a tax bill for the rich and the only thing he accomplished was taking a accelerating economy, and by totally ****ing up COVID, sticking that economy in the *******.

Sir, if I had a clear indication of the end of the world, there are likely a few things I'd get into other than post here at PF for political entertainment purposes. Supposing that DFT wins your state by 1 vote over Biden, or vice versa, perhaps you would be satisfied with your vote still, but, it seems likely to me that a fair amount of folks who voted as you plan to vote would have second thoughts about their decision.

But but this will be the most important election ever; the stakes have never been higher; and the choice has never been clearer.....well that 's what we will be told 4 times an hour between Labor Day and November 5 anyway. I'll vote for one of the alt-candidates on the off-chance it helps their party qualify for federal matching funds next time--so probably Green or Libertarian.

I would like to vote for RFK. But this is a team effort, and voting for RFK is, apparently, more like passing the football to the cheap seats... RFK wasn't even an option on my primary ballot (I wrote him in). I'll prolly be voting Trump.

You can prevent one, but not the other.

    It's a binary choice.

Just for your information, in most states, a write-in candidate will not be counted unless that candidate's name has been registered with the state.
There do exist a handful of write-in candidates for President whose names have been officially registered in most states. They have no realistic chance of winning the election, to be sure, but their names will be officially counted if you write their names in. But if you write in some other name, it will not be counted.

    He hasn’t, really.
That’s just the typical moral equivalency bullshit that maga spouts to try making trump look more palatable.

They know that he’s a seditious traitor who tried to overturn an election to keep himself in power, and will go down in history as the only potus to have ever resorted to what trump did after losing, but they need to con the voters into believing that Biden is just as corrupt, when in fact he’s nothing of the sort.

Their apoplectic hysteria about Hunter is proof that they are just trying to assassinate Biden’s character by proxy since there is nothing remotely corrupt about old Joe’s liberal policies.
But they can’t discuss the policy differences like adults because trump doesn’t care about policy and can only trot out dog whistle rants of lies to make his maga supporters salivate and run out to parrot his agenda of personal grievances.
So all they have is their tired litany of paranoid delusions to fall back on.
I doubt that even they believe trump’s bullshit anymore, but they have nowhere else to go.

The inadequacies of the two candidates is completely in line with the duopoly's maintenance of power. By keeping the populace totally divided over meaningless figureheads, the vested interests promulgated by "two parties" can roll on without a hitch.

No it's not a binary choice. You vote for one the other someone else or nobody at all.

    That's four different choices.

(((Sigh)))). This is just ONE reason why you need to transition to a “preferential voting system”. Do away with the endless rounds of “primaries” and have ONE vote but all candidates listed. There may have to be a culling process beforehand so you don’t end up with 50,000 on the ballot - I.e. you have to be elected to this by more than 3,000 people. Then the voters number the ballots in order of preference

IMO it was a good concept but the name has negativity. Should have something to do with what they stand for, not what they DON'T stand for. Just my 2 cents
