Should these persons be in jail and paying tens of thousands in fines and have criminal records?

They prosecuted those who were caught in those riots. NONE who were found guilty were just set free. They did the same with those caught in Washington D.C. I see no double standard with that.
I say all of the protesters in Seattle etc. should be set free unless every single D.C. rioter is locked up. I think you can see my argument in the last sentence is not a logical one.

I don't think its illogical at all. The same punishment should happen for the same crimes IMO.

It wasn't the Tampa cops who came after him. Yes, the Mayor of Tampa is a gay and woke, and the Mayor a St. Pete is Black and woke. But if you get out of the city, it's another story.

One sheriff in Poke County warned would be looters that local people had guns, and that his office wouldn't be arresting those gun owners if they were defending their property.

OK but then the United States was not attacked, there was a riot at the Capital.

This great-grandmother did not ATTACK the United States, try again.

No one is calling for those who on Jan. 6 engaged in VIOLENCE to be freed. Why are you trying to misrepresent it? Read the OP this is about the people who saw OPEN DOORS with the Capitol Police standing there waving them through and even being escorted through and then after walking PEACEFULLY through the building, all of 10 minutes, they left.

I don't see the bolded part in the RWR section. I don't recall those protest burning down government buildings even trying to trap people inside of them so they burn along with the building. I don't recall those protest engaging in insurrection and taking over entire parts of cities and declaring their won governments and disrupting the lives of all the law abiding citizens.

The link in the OP doesn’t show Capitol police waving them in through any doors like you claim in post #30. There is also no timestamp on the video. How do you know when it was taken? Meaning the time of day. Was it before the rioting started? Was it during? No one can know based on no time stamp.

    Gotta love Grady Judd.

I lived in Tampa for 16 years in carrollwood. My father and brother still live there but you can have the place as far as I'm concerned.

I much prefer DeSoto county where I have been for the past 14 years

In which this woman was not involved...A year and a half and a 200k fine for walking through an open door absent a no trespassing sign through what is after all supposed to be the people's house, seems more than a bit excessive in live of the fact that the arsonist that tries to burn down the church opposite the White house and defaced several statues of American heroes were turn loose.

Should these persons be in jail……etc.?

    Oh yes.
Violently breaking into the seat of our government while it was in session deserves much harsher punishment than has been handed out. If only do discourage a repeat performance.

In addition, the Orange ringleader needs to stand trial BEFORE the next election.

RAP MORE AND HARDER: Asshat J6 Judge Gets a Rap on the Knuckles for Abusing His Power in Sentencing.

Judges that abuse their power should be tried sentenced and jailed. After all these same judges are stripping Trump of the same immunity that they and the crooked prosecutors enjoy.

    Unfit for judgeship.

'The DC Court of Appeals administered a sharp bonk with a rolled-up newspaper on the figurative snout of District Court Judge Reggie Walton Friday for Stasi-like overreach in the sentencing of a January 6 defendant. Texas resident Daniel Goldwyn pleaded guilty on January 31, 2023, to two misdemeanor counts of trespassing in the US Capitol. Compare and contrast this with the treatment rendered to the mob of Karens who disrupted the Kavanaugh confirmation hearing or the Antifa who sacked numerous American cities during the summer of 2020.'

This asshat judge was angered that Goodwyn did a news interview.

'Goodwyn was sentenced to 60 days in jail, ordered to pay a $2,500 fine and $500 in restitution, and given 12 months of supervised release.' And required to undergo 'mental health treatment, if that is deemed to be necessary and that he remain in that treatment until it is no longer felt to be necessary by the probation department.'

Then Asshat Judge 'Walton imposed monitoring for wrongthink.'

'And since he has used social media in order to provide what I consider to be disinformation about this situation, I would require that he permit his computer use to be subject to monitoring and inspection by the probation department to see if he is, in fact, disseminating information of the nature that relates to the events that resulted in what occurred on January 6th of 2021.'

This Judge is insane. Appelate Court backhands the judge:

'Upon consideration of the appellant’s brief; and the motion to remand and the opposition thereto, which includes a request to vacate the special condition of supervised release subjecting appellant to computer monitoring and searches, it is ORDERED that the computer-monitoring condition be vacated and the case be remanded for further proceedings. The district court plainly erred in imposing the computer-monitoring condition without considering whether it was “reasonably related” to the relevant sentencing factors and involved “no greater deprivation of liberty than is reasonably necessary” to achieve the purposes behind sentencing. 18 U.S.C. § 3583(d)(1), (2); see United States v. Burroughs, 613 F.3d 233, 242–46 (D.C. Cir. 2010). If the district court decides on remand to impose a new computer-monitoring condition, “it should explain its reasoning,” “develop the record in support of its decision,” and ensure that the condition accords with 18 U.S.C. § 3583(d) and constitutional protections. Burroughs, 613 F.3d at 246'

Because this power-mad judge didn't like his news interview 'Walton tried 'to prevent Goodwyn from exercising basic constitutional rights as a condition of parole.'

The great grandmother the subject of the OP was NOT violent, was not charged with anything violent like the vast majority were not.

    So try again

You seem to think I made a claim that I obviously didn’t make. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So you don’t know exactly when the video occurred or the circumstances. Got it.

The answer to your thread question is YES, absolutely. I have no sympathy for that level of stupidity.

No, I don't need to try again.

Adults are responsible for their actions. If they were stupid enough to participate in a violent act, that was a conscious decision and they deserve to suffer the consequences. If they want mercy, then they can plead guilty and argue mitigation and hope the court shown them some.

People who break laws, are caught and arrested, are indicted and found guilty by a jury of their peers after getting a chance to defend their actions in court must face the consequences of their actions that is law and we are a nation of laws. If a person has been treated poorly by the system there are remedies under law.
Some of the same people who a few short years ago were the champions of law and order now appear to the champions of anarchy and chaos.
Who makes the decision which convicted individuals get to go free and which must pay their dues?

    Horse $hit.

Thousands went to jail in the aftermath of the 2020 riots. To say otherwise is a blatant mis representation of reality.

Yea, right. The same felons came out night after night trying to set fire to the courthouse in Seattle. How could that be if they had been arrested and in jail? In Minneapolis there were riots night after night. How many people are in the rioting profession. If you busted and jailed them on the first couple of nights, one would think you would exhaust the supply after a while.

Here in Florida, the news media made a big deal out of the guy the camera caught tossing a fire bomb between the security gate of a store. That didn’t seem to happen much up north.

The contrast between the summer of ‘20 riots and number of arrests and the January 6 arrests and prosecutions has been made frequently. If there were many trials for the 2020 arrests, the Democrats would be pointing to them. There aren’t many trials, except for Kyle Rittenhouse, which favored the Democrat side. The rest seem to be held “secret” or don’t exist. At all burning and looting in the name of George Floyd was a “virtuous, rightful protest” right?
