In case you missed it though, we won't have new internal combustion engines around much longer (11 years) while the government bans them.

Do you see the difference between that and dial telephones?

Won't be banned. Just like dial telephones were never banned. Just like typewriters were never banned. It will be hard to find parts, and they will be expensive. Finding Model T parts today is expensive.

Except, of course, there was no significant popular sentiment to retain either dial telephones or typewriters. Not so for ICE vehicles. The EV advocates' stratagem is the coward's path of PR deniability.

No, Biden's EPA is dead set on doing just that by 2035. It's one of Biden's campaign promises.

It'll most definitely happen. The new EPA rules that were just finalized gets us about 2/3 of the way there by 2032.

Plus the facts that the enhanced CO2 hypothesis on atmospheric temperature can be easily disproven (Antarctic temperature data for the last 200 years) and following the ridiculous mandates on eliminating ICE vehicles would be economic suicide. The Chinese Communist Party are delighted.

Enthusiasm for EV's is ebbing where it was once strongest.

    EVs have a Democrat problem
    April 9
Electric vehicles might have a Democrat problem. As in: In the past year, Democrats have become much less likely to say they would even consider buying an EV.

For a few months now, growth in EV sales has been slowing. Sales were up a touch in the first quarter of 2024, but not as much as in the rest of vehicle market, meaning a smaller share of new vehicles sold were electric.

Jittery automakers have already started pulling back on their EV investments. Ford, which lost nearly $4.7 billion on its EV business last year, recently announced a delay in planned launches of two new models. General Motors said last fall that it would postpone adding a second factory for production of electric pickups. Apple has reportedly canceled its decade-long efforts to build an electric car.

    And so on. . . .

While the number of EV owners has risen in the past year, the share of Americans saying they would not even consider buying an EV jumped, from 41 percent in 2023 to 48 percent today, according to a Gallup report released Monday. That is, about half of Americans have written off ever owning an EV. (A separate YouGov poll, conducted in 2024 only, found a similar result.)

At my request, Gallup broke down the responses by demographics for today vs. a year ago. Turns out one demographic driving this trend is, unfortunately, among the more reliable, climate-conscious customers: Democrats. . . .

. . . But the bigger issue, I suspect, has to do with lack of charging infrastructure, which is feeding “range anxiety.”

Here government incentives have proved less productive than hoped. For instance, $7.5 billion set aside by the 2021 bipartisan infrastructure law to build charging stations has resulted in just seven charging stations so far, offering 38 spots in the entire country. Meanwhile, other stations have notoriously high outages and wait times. . . .

Sign once again people like you present a false narrative since no one here disputes a warming trend which that latest one began in the 1970's, what is disputed is claiming that CO2 is the driver of the trend which has been successfully countered many times.

Tesla is the only American manufacturer making a profit on EVs. I'm not a big fan. I sold my stock years ago, after it tripled in value. I was in their showroom the other day, and most of their cars look a lot alike - very similar sedans. I think the Cybertruck is too big and bulky. It might be OK for some, but I'm looking for a small truck. I signed up for the Canoo pickup, but they may not make it Canoo_Pickup.JPG .

GM sales in China down 91% over 10 years. EV sales the only positive.

Chevrolet China sales fall 91% while Mary Barra paid over $30M for performance

BYD sells more than 300,000 plug-in cars in March of 2024, Despite talk of huge tariffs in both Europe and the United States, BYD continues to overachieve.

    https://insideevs.com/news/714552/byd-plugin-car-sales-march2024/

BYD's passenger plug-in car sales amounted to 301,631 units last month—including almost 15,000 EVs from its sub-brands. That's 46% more than a year ago, which suggests that BYD will continue the growth this year.
    ...
BYD's all-electric car sales in March amounted to 139,902, up 36% year-over-year. At the same time, plug-in hybrid sales increased by 56% year-over-year, to 161,729.
    ...
So far this year, BYD sold over 624,000 passenger plug-in electric cars, 14% more than a year ago. In 2024, the company intends to achieve an average growth rate of over 20%.

BYD to unveil 2nd generation Blade battery this year! There was just a lot of talk on this Forum of EV weight (which is currently very similar to a comparable ICE with a full tank of gas - just nominally higher). The Blade II will be lighter, with a higher energy density. Blade batteries are used by a number of manufacturers. Borg Warner, the largest American supplier of parts, recently signed a contract with BYD for rights to the Blade battery. EVs just keep moving forward, while ICEs continue to stagnate.

    https://carnewschina.com/2024/04/08/byds-2nd-generation-blade-battery-to-launch-this-year/

BYD battery subsidiary FinDreams will launch a second generation version of its blade battery later this year, possibly in August. One of the key upgrades in the new battery will be the energy density which is expected to reach 190 Wh/kg

The original blade battery introduced in 2020 revolutionized the EV industry by making cheaper lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries have power densities that made them competitive with NCM (nickel cobalt manganese) batteries. This was done by arranging the individual cells into a blade like arrangement within the battery packs hence the name blade battery. Such an arrangement increased the space utilization by 50% compared to existing LFP batteries at the time.

When introduced the first generation blade battery had an energy density of 140 Wh/kg which has since been increased to 150 Wh/kg.
    ...
The second-generation blade battery will have a smaller size and lighter weight for the same endurance, and that power consumption will be reduced per 100 kilometers.

Having extracted all the technology they found worthwhile, Chinese have been squeezing US manufacturers out for a while now. I think the writing is on the wall.

Still can't debate anything which means you have no argument to make while I stand by what I stated which is true.

    Repeating my unchallenged words,

The dispute is how much effect CO2 has on temperature trends (FACT) while the change from a cooling trend to the current warming trend did happen in the late 1970's a FACT even most warmist/alarmists agrees.

No conspiracy at all here it is your inability to make a credible counterpoint is in full display.
