'New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan started the momentous first day of Donald Trump’s New York hush money trial by rejecting Trump’s motion seeking to remove him from the case.

Merchan said the issues raised in Trump’s motion had been dealt with in a previous motion, and suggested the former president was grasping at straws.''

NEW YORK — Judge Merchan responded to the Trump’s team’s request for a clarification of the trial schedule by reaffirming his commitment to adjourn court proceedings early during the Passover holiday in late April. Merchan said he would cut the trial testimony short in early afternoon on April 22, April 23 and April 30 to allow Jewish members of the defense team and prospective Jewish jurors to undertake religious observances. And the court will not be in session April 29, the judge said.

There really isn't much defense of the actual hush money payments and the plot to influence the election. Most of that was taped by Cohen. David Pecker and others will cooberate this evidence.

Bragg was also able to get more documents and witnesses and as today shows the rest is history.
Barr even wanted it to disappear for Michael Cohen which suggests that he felt if he could Cohen would let it lie, like forever.

What Judge Merchan is doing in this case is entirely proper. You can never compel people to disclose who they voted for - even people sitting on a jury. If it wasn't allowed this would be reversed on appeal very quickly. Judge Merchan certainly knows the rules a lot better than Alina Habba, who I don't think has ever conducted a criminal jury trial.

Team Trump is once again setting up the excuses for when he is convicted, just as they did before every other case and every election.'

You should know about it before posting that the DOJ didn't prosecute Trump
The FEC stated quite clearly that it didn't have the time and man power to investigate and the DOJ was already investigating it..

Judge Merchan was quite mad at one point because Trump's ;lawyers have yet to turn over their "Exhibit List"
Their excuse was they're so busy.

Merchan gave them 24 hrs.

Trump only has the same exhibits (documents etc) as the prosecutors, LOL
