Ben covers Jesse Watter's last night segment covering juror #2.
Trump re-posted Watter's post about her.

I was actually poking fun at the comment Trump made about illegal immigrants on the Trump tower escalator in 2015.
I hadn't considered the "roundness" of the argument! I can't poke any at Trump's weight as I am 6' 3" and 270 lbs! lol!

I would like to see Trump thrown in jail for the duration of the trial just for this.
This is purely juror intimidation. Just because it's on an open media site does not excuse it, and it seems to me to be one of the lowest and most despicable attacks on what makes this country so great. Trump seems to have an openly hostile attitude for some of the things that are the foundations of America. Democracy and voters deciding elections and the court system and how our justice system operates. He has demonstrated his disdain for some of the basic institutions that keep out country free. He doesn't care about making "America Great", he only cares about making Trump great, even if he has to run our institutions in the ground to do it.
    Not working for me.

Anyone else would already be jailed by now. No question. He's getting special treatment.

Dude you said there was tax evasion, which is what we were discussing. You made it up or didn't know, not me. That being said, good job figuring out what the case is about, now go look up the statute of limitations on falsifying business records in NY, and report back.

I never said a thing about tax evasion. You must be thinking of someone else.

He had enough to charge (and get an indictment) for "Falsifying of business records" in order to cover up a crime.

So, Trump never mentions this juror in any way, her family figures out she's on the jury because the lefty media gave everything but her name but somehow because trump was intimidating her. She didn't say that, you guys are hilarious.

Hiding a personal expense as a business expense results in a tax reduction. Deliberately doing so is tax evasion

LOL the DA disagrees with you, wonder why you didn't report back on statue of limitations?

You ever heard of Branding, when Trump is on every building and every golf course, the Trump Name is not just personal, it's the business.

Well, of course we all know these prosecutions are politically motivated. But, I believe they would have happened, even if he hadn't ran for another term.

Don't blame Trump for not just fading away, because the Democrats will never shut up about him.

Prosecutors want Trump held in contempt for 'disturbing' Truth Social post attacking prospective jurors
    Source: Business Insider

    Apr 18, 2024, 10:19 AM EDT

'Manhattan prosecutors in Donald Trump's criminal hush-money case asked the judge presiding over the case to sanction him for attacking prospective jurors in the trial, arguing the former president had repeatedly violated his gag order.

The latest salvo, from Assistant District Attorney Christopher Conroy in court Thursday morning, concerns a Truth Social post made by Trump on Wednesday, in which he quoted the Fox News host Jesse Watters. "They are catching undercover Liberal Activists lying to the Judge in order to get on the Trump Jury," Trump posted on his feed, quoting Watters while applying his own letter capitalization.

Conroy told New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan on Thursday morning that it was "the most disturbing post" among seven occasions in which Trump had violated his gag order since Monday, the day jury selection began.

He asked Merchan to hold Trump in contempt and fine him, adding that the Manhattan district attorney's office was "still considering our options" for the full scope of sanctions to request from the judge. Being held in contempt of court could result in jail time for the former president.

It would appear statute of limitations doesn't work quite like you assume.

A Complete Guide to the Manhattan Trump Election Interference Prosecution (justsecurity.org)
    • There was no statute of limitations violation. Although the charges were brought more than the usual five-year statute of limitations for falsification of records, an executive order issued by the Governor of New York during COVID tolled the five-year period as a matter of law.

And in fact, throwing a case out due to statute of limitations is not, at least in New York, only based upon time elapsed (see Taranovich factors).

    Just-Security-NY-2016-Election-Interference-Trump-Clearinghouse-—-Order-on-Trump-omnibus-motions-to-dimiss-Feb.132024-e-filedFeb.-15.pdf (justsecurity.org)

"Unlike the cases cited by Defendant, which all involved inexcusable dereliction of duties, the reasons proffered by the People appear reasonable. Further, the People note that the complexity of the investigation and the unique circumstances surrounding the Defendant himself (a then sitting President of the United States) cannot be overlooked. The People have presented legitimate reasons for the delay in indicting Defendant."

You'd like to see Trump thrown in jail because she got triggered by her friends and family asking her if she's a juror? Interesting

    Watter's favorite juror was #4.
The guy who today got kicked off the jury for lying. lol
The Manhattan DA tracked down the lie.
Was juror #4 a defense pick? lol

After Jesse Watters ran this segment and Trump posted it, this juror asked to be excused because she was concerned about her identity becoming public. Fox & Trump are coordinating to intimidate jurors.

If you're a Trump supporter in New York City who is a part of the jury pool, do everything you can to get seated on the jury and then refuse ...

    Rep, Byron Donalds:

“My plea is to the people of Manhattan that may sit on this trial: Please do the right thing for this country,” Donalds said. “Everybody’s allowed to have their political viewpoints, but the law is supposed to be blind and no respecter of persons. This is a trash case; there is no crime here; and if there is any potential for a verdict, they should vote not guilty.”

The cheerleaders for the petulant, tantrum-throwing loser may wish to clue the defendant in to the notion of respect for juries of one's peers. Common civility is expected.

Of course, the sexual abuser has shown contempt for certified democratic elections, outnumbered police defending democracy against goons attacks, and America's justice system in general, so his boorish behavior is hardly novel.

'All 12 jurors seated in Trump hush-money trial after two dismissals'

First criminal trial of a former president one significant step closer to beginning after full jury selected in New York

'A full jury of 12 jurors has been seated in the criminal case against Donald Trump, bringing the first criminal trial of a former president a significant step closer to beginning.

At least one of six alternate jurors had been selected before court concluded on Thursday.

The development came after two jurors were removed from the jury, underscoring the difficulty of choosing a jury in one of the most high-stakes cases in US history.'

'Woman who dislikes Trump’s ‘persona’ stays on panel'

After cutting one prospective juror who showed intense apathy toward Donald Trump in the past, Justice Juan Merchan declined to remove another potential juror who said she was not a fan of the former president’s “persona” but could treat fairly as she does her unlikeable colleagues.

“It doesn’t come down to whether she dislikes your client or not,” the judge said. “I preside over trials all the time involving defendants who are not very likable.”

For example, he said, “You ask the jurors, ‘How do you feel about sex abusers?’ Nobody says they like them.” But, he said, those people are still seated in sex-abuse cases. “The issue here is not really whether they like the client,” he added. “The issue is whether they can be fair and impartial.”

The woman was seated over objections from Trump’s lawyers.'

His motion to dismiss based on the limitations period was denied. What point you’re trying to make here is puzzling. Look it up yourself and then share it with bluesclues.

    Hell no.
She should have stood tall and admit that her views haven't changed..

'Potential juror who called Trump a ‘racist, sexist narcissist’ is cut'

'In a surreal exchange, a potential juror apologized directly to Donald Trump for her harsh rhetoric toward him on social media during the 2016 campaign.

The older White woman said earlier Thursday that she “may have posted concerns” about Trump in the past, but decided to stop being so negative during the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump’s lawyers surfaced those posts. One, from 2016, read: “We must … protect the rights of people at risk from this racist, sexist narcissist.”

Asked about it now, the potential juror said: “That sounds bad.”

Other posts raised by the defense — “I wouldn’t believe Donald Trump if his tongue was notarized” and “Trump is an anathema to everything I was told about love and about Jesus.”

'Prosecutors refuse to hand over first witness names'

Prosecutors refused Trump attorney Todd Blanche’s request to provide the names of the first three witnesses they intend to call at trial, citing Trump’s recent Truth Social posts about witnesses.

Assistant District Attorney Joshua Steinglass said they normally would’ve provided the names as a courtesy but won’t because of Trump’s posts.

Blanche then asked the judge to order the names be provided, saying he could assure the court Trump won’t make those posts moving forward.

“I don’t think you can make that representation,” Judge Juan Merchan quipped back, denying the request. :applause:
