The US is a rich nation with poor people in it and we should be looking to our priorities.
But even more simplifying. The European Nations of Europe have a larger interest in keeping Russia in its place than does the US. Or at least the same. Yet Trump's critique of NATO is that the US, as a % of our GDP, is paying more into NATO than does the various nations of Europe. In fairness, that has to stop. I'd think every reasonable American, including Democrats, should be down with that.

The US is not one dime poorer because of our aid to Ukraine. Indeed, by virtue of Russia's losses in personnel and equipment, and the accession to NATO of powerful new members, it's likely the US has prospered.

 

Well since most, if not all, of said aid is spent locally, I'd say it adding to GDP homeland prosperity and long term national and international security. All wins...

US gives Ukraine a buck. Buck is spent on manufacture of stuff they then use. We got our buck back. But we've done a buck in productivity and are not a buck richer ourselves. And reality, I'm sure it is not even this relatively harmless.

I do think NATO is on its last legs as we prepare to remove ourselves from these theaters. What follows will be interesting.

I am not seeing how the US is losing our when 90% of the aid has been giving Ukraine old decommissioned stuff while we buy brand new stuff for our own military. It saves us a lot of money not having to store or destroy the old stuff and we have to keep our mitary equipped with modern equipment anyway.

 

The US does not give Ukraine money. The US gives money to US companies who provide stuff to Ukraine.
I certainly hope NATO is not on its last legs. That would bring WW3 close.
