Doesn't really matter whether he did 'allow' the attack or not. (Although in reality it's extremely unlikely he did have foreknowledge of Hamas's impending assault and decided to use it for political gain.) Because if that was his intention? Then he failed dismally because as events unfolded the attack was waaaay too 'successful' to do him any political good!

A 'win' for Bibi would have been letting the assault commence, letting breaches of the barrier occur and then letting firefights with troops commence before a well organized and prompt response coordinated by the 'hero of the hour' averted significant civilian casualties and 'destroyed' the enemy. That scenario would have been a win for him. What actually unfolded? Was a disastrous reflection on the competence and preparedness of Israel's intelligence services, it's armed forces and its government!

Which brings us to the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Gaza which is unfolding precisely because BiBi's government failed to predict or prevent the assault. The fact is BiBI was already facing these criminal charges long before Hamas attacked and only his immunity from prosecution as Prime Minister was preventing the prosecution from commencing. Together with the 'success' of Hamas's attack? The charges only give him more incentive to react as he has. BiBi is literally backed into a corner. At the moment the only hope he has of saving both himself and his government is fostering an image as a 'strong man' who can defeat Hamas and save the hostages . This makes the continued prosecution of this war his one hope (not certainty) of puling something out of this mess that will save him politically come next election. And if he has to fight to the last Palestinian to do it? Well its a cheap price to pay.

All of which is just another example of how f*cked up the entire Israel/Palestine situation is and why (yet one more time) ... I ain't taking sides and its not my problem!

Anyone who thinks Netanyahu knew about the Oct 7 attack and let it happen is an idiot.

    I'm not so sure.

Netanyahu could not do what he has been doing since October without there having been an event he could point to.

He couldn't have started this genocide last August.

And, there has never been a question concerning whether Israel'a Zionists, the Likud party of Netanyahu, have see Gaza and West Bank as rightfully theirs.

In West Bank, he has been allowed to simply steal land until it's all his at some point.

In Gaza, the Israeli siege doesn't allow him that strategy.

Agreed. Hence my previous post. Hamas's attack ack has been a disaster for both Isrealis and Palesrinians. But politically? BiBi is backed into a corner ans has few if any good options to choose from.

Before October, there was ABSOLUTELY ZERO interest in the plight of Palestinians either in Gaza (where they lived in destitution under the Israeli siege) or in West Bank (as Israel's colonialism continued stealing land and bulldozing the homes and farms of Palestinians - all the way to the Jordan, as the Likud charter call for).

The US worked our economic and political powers to ensure these atrocities would continue.

It's quite reasonable to consider that October 7 put this problem back on the map - all over the world.

Yes, Israel slaughtered tens of thousands of women and children. But, another decade of the status quo would not offer a future.

Palestinians would still live on the verge of desperation, looking at their children and realizing they had NO future, with nothing the parents could offer.

Now, there is a chance that the Israeli war will be ended and that Palestine will have borders and the rights that sovereignty brings.

Their kids may have a future!! What people wouldn't fight for that with their very lives?

So then he should choose to eradicate Hamas.

Sure thing. Just as soon as the Justice League hands BiBi the 'Sacred Staff of Hamas Detection'. You know, the one that magically locates and identifies active members of Hamas hiding amidst Gaza's civilian population. I expect that will happen any day now.

Or alternately he can just go the simple route and eradicatethem all! Does that option float your boat?

HOW ??? And with how much "collaterl damage"???? . Little factoid: one cannot eradicate terrorism. The more that are killed, the more incentive some have to join the cause.

It is time to put a long pause on the hostiles.........and very gradually begging to regain some measure of mutual interest in creating a constructive living arrangement. Otherwise this barbarism will just keep it's perpetual cycle. These negotiations should be presided over by a totally impartial party. (that excludes the USA. and others that have bee actively involved one way or another. ) It will take years for the Palestinians to recover from this onslaught. and the leadership by Hamas. It all depends on the respective parties and how motivated they are to truly resolve this or just continue fighting.

IF that was the case.........how lasting would it be?? When TWO parties are involved......it takes BOTH to resolve the issues. That is why an impartial third party is necessary as both parties are too hot headed right now. Emotions are too raw.

If Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran’s proxies stopped the hostilities, Israel would see no reason to respond.

    Don't be silly.

The Likud Charter says Gaza belongs to Israel - due to God or whatever.

Bibi has stated that there will be an invasion of Rafah REGARDLES of whether there is a ceasefire.

And post war, Israel says it must rule Gaza, with IDF presence. They have been working on how to get rid of Palestinians remaining.

Also, President Abbas has cooperated with the IDF, which IDF notes as important. enough to keep Abbas' forces armed. Abbas has long worked to a solution through negotiations ONLY. Israel has continued its assault on West Bank while refusing all negotiations. The entire world knows what negotiations mean to Israel - nothing.

Why would it be different in Gaza?

What's to stop Israel's atrocities in West Bank?

So what is the core basis for all these hostilities?? The mere presence of Israel in that region?? Religious beliefs seem to factor in a lot too. Different beliefs, different cultures and no one wants to get along with each other ...even on a superficial peaceful basis. The resentment seems mutual and has been building up for many years. No simple solution to something that deep rooted. They obviously cannot or will not resolve it themselves.

Of course if Israel ceased it's policy of seizing land from Palestinians living in the West Bank and actually granted them citizenship and consequently exactly the same civil rights that other Israeli's enjoyed? Perhaps Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran etc would have less justification for engaging in hostilities in the first place!

    What? Too much?

You have that wokensie doublespeak going on flyboy.. It is indigenous population who is being denied the right of Self Defense .. against a foreign occupier - invader , Persecutor and last but not least .. Ethnic Cleanser.

So wut up flyby .. So the Palestinians can't defend themselves but everyone else can ? --- is that not exactly what you are arguing ? Or did you wish to recant your previous position and tell us that that October 7 was an act of Self Defense --- and that we should be arming and supporting the cause of Palestinian freedom as we are the cause of freedom for Ukraine ...

Right Fly !! heh heh heh .. is that how now we roll .. put up the checkered flag and go to local campus .. cheer for the ones who exercised the right of self defense on Oct 7 .. but now being denied the ability to actualize that right .. by Genocide Joe and Bibi the Hoe .. Make the Warsaw Ghetto look like a vacation spot .. them brown shirts ain't got nothing on the Likud charter .. "From the river to the sea" .. .. black and white for anyone to read.

But you wouldn't be supporting that Zionist Agenda now would you Fly .. by the bye .. hopping both sides of the fence ... maybe Fly transform into grasshopper .. going back and forth .. can't tell one side from the next at some point aye friend :)

So ? you gonna stand by the position we should be sending arms to the Palestinian Freedom fighters -- who were defending themselves on Oct 7 -- fighting for state-hood .. against an evil oppressor and foreign invader and occupier .

or did you wish to revert to the NY-Times position --- ordering their writers not to use terms such as "occupied Territories" .. and all kinds of other state sponsored propaganda pablum for mass Neocon - Donor Class consumption

Now .. which is it friend .. The Palestinians can not defend themselves but everyone else can ? is that what you are trying to say ..or is the goose not good for the gander ? ..

Nice attempt at a short fantasy story. I wouldn't call Marvel yet though.

Generally speaking, the enemy is the guy who is pointing a gun at you. The enemy is also the guy who uses military infrastructure, like rocket launchers. Fairly easy to detect people who shoot at you, don't you think?

As long as their leadership is holding on to power, members of the terrorist organizations will fight. As long as members of terrorist organizations fight - point guns at soldiers and use rocket launchers - they're easily identifiable.

There are thousands of terrorists in Israeli prisons. Some of them like to talk. The Israelis know a lot more about Hamas than you'll ever be able to imagine.

Perhaps you can explain why was the PLO founded in 1964 when the West Bank belonged to Jordan and Gaza to Egypt. Perhaps you can also explain terror attacks in Israel by fedayeen from Syria, Jordan, and Gaza, in the 50s. Should Israel have granted all Syrians, Jordanians, and Egyptians citizenship and equal rights?
