The money paid to Cuellar went through shell companies. Imagine that.

Democrats won't let him retire now and risk losing a seat in congress. They will go on so Abbott will have to appoint another democrat to replace him later.

That's a better link, with more detail.

Geebus, these people in power ... he says he did all of this "... in the interest of the American people." Gee, thanks, Henry. I feel so much better about the future, knowing that your wife now has a $12,000 gown. Good job!

They yanked him from his one committee (he can only serve on one? Not much of a work ethic) but that isn't good enough for Republicans. It seems "innocent until proven guilty" only applies to their side, like George Santos.

I can't see any of those attached files, I just get an error.

As for Menendez trying the insanity plea: Republicans aren't the only ones who are good at making stuff up to get out of trouble. Menendez should be ousted, imo.

    Sorry about the links.
I deleted the photos and it all went poof.

Menendenz and lawyers conveniently leave out how Bob and wife acquired all the money/gold/gifts that he hoarded.

'Senator’s defense team demands sanctions against prosecutors for revealing his mental health struggles'

'Sen. Bob Menendez’s legal team asked a federal judge this week to sanction prosecutors in his corruption case for publicly disclosing a psychiatric condition defense attorneys say drove the senator to hoard cash in his home.

In a court filing, prosecutors included a letter from Menendez’s attorneys that revealed they planned to call a New York psychiatrist to testify that the senator’s “intergenerational trauma” created an undisclosed mental health disorder that caused him to store his riches at home. Such behavior is a common coping mechanism for trauma victims who have experienced scarcity, the attorneys said.

Specifically, the psychiatrist would reveal that the senator suffered “two significant traumatic events”

Abbott CAN'T appoint someone to fill a House vacancy!
ALL House Vacancies (in EVERY State) MUST be filled only by a Special Election.

The Constitution requires that member of the House be replaced only by an election held in the congressional district of the former representative.

Glad to be of service in clearing up the confusion.

Has Ken Paxton come to Cuellar's defense yet?

'First House Democrat calls on Henry Cuellar to resign'

    Source: Axios

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) on Friday became the first House Democrat to call for Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) to resign over federal conspiracy and bribery charges.

Why it matters: Cuellar is the second sitting member of Congress currently under indictment, along with Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), who has faced calls for resignation from over half of his Democratic colleagues.

    • "That's why I believe any elected official or candidate facing such charges should resign or end their campaign. That includes Sen. Menendez, Donald Trump, and Rep. Cuellar."
    • In exchange for the bribes, prosecutors allege, Cuellar pushed legislation and pressured government officials to benefit Azerbaijan and the bank.
    • Cuellar has proclaimed his innocence and said he plans to run for reelection in November. He secured the Democratic nomination in March.

Didn't Menendez ultimately get off under the Trump DOJ? Obama's DOJ brought him up for charges?

Oh, get off it already. I'm not defending Menendez. See #12. Next time, try reading the whole thread before you reply to me with hate-based snark. That was uncalled for and you know it.
