No, they haven't. Certainly they are shaky, and there are people in their government that are not operating in good faith... But the opposition to them in that country is fully sympathetic to the Taliban and radical Islamic concerns. And if this regime loses it's political foothold to them, the results would be far worse than what we have today.

They don't have any way to launch their nukes.

Pakistann will align with China against India.. that's a slam dunk.

You have to understand that nearly everything that the official government of Pakistan is likely to say would be something opposed to us, in order to keep the appearance that they can't stand us. But privately what they will do is accept our money and our help with the more fanatical elements that threaten them politically. And we will gladly continue to provide it, because we don't want that fanatical element to come to power.

Fully sympathetic? I doubt that. But certainly the US-drone strikes on Pakistani soil and the way "Geronimo" seems to have been conducted did generate more sympathies for the Taliban within the Pakistani population and that is indeed problematic.

A population that was already a good bit sympathetic to them in the first place, given that it long seems to have been a nice place for terrorists to hide... at least OBL seemed to think so. The opposition to the current regime in Pakistan is indeed quite a bit more radical than the one in power at the moment, and for that opposition to gain real authority or control would be a problem... not just for us, but for others too.

Please do not paraphrase my words to twist them into something that I never said.

I am more than certain that at least some elements in the current regime knew about it.

I think the Pakistani people are sick of their government, the Taliban, the AQ and the ISI.

And I would dearly love to see the 28 pages of the 9-11 report redacted by Bush.

I know .. and I don't know squat about Pakistan.. I just have this vague sense that we are getting screwed and OBL was living there since 2004 while 2400 Americans died in Afghanistan.

    No worries...

Ideally, I would love to just (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) slap Pakistan... but really what we have there now is about as good as it gets from our point of view. Any shift politically would not be good for us.

Yep, the same Khmer Rouge which America went on to finance, aid and support because the US were humiliated over the Vietnamese ousting of the Cambodian government.
    What was that about myopia?

But you have stated repeatedly in here that you agree with the Red Cross estimates of the total number of prisoners to die in German concentration camps in WW2 - 271,476

You deny the 6 million figure and yet youre not labeled a self-loathing Jew

I am not sure what your point is Doctor

    Did you forget today?

Well, to prevent them from gaining ever more sympathies within parts of the Pakistani and Afghan population it might be worthwhile examining how they could gain some sympathies in the first place. It certainly wasn't because the rules they demand people to live by are such fun.

Just imagine you live in one of the poorest regions of the world full of refugee camps and the only way you can afford to send your kids to some sort of school and have them dressed and fed is to send them to a Madrassa run by hardline-fundamentalists whose ideology sprang up in opposition to an occupying force (the British) ... and follow the line of thought to the latest flood, where unlike the Government the Taliban showed up to offer help ... well, I would understand how you might get tempted.

America never supported the Kymer Rouge in their brutality against their own people. Anyone who believes that must have lived in some left wing Lal La land!

The Pakistani gov't is fighting the Taliban as hard as the French fought the Nazis in WWII.
