I believe -- and mind you, far too much of my knowledge comes from reading lots of Thor comicbooks -- that the term 'Viking' is actually a verb. As in, to raid the coast of Scotland is to Vike. And if you are raiding, then you are a-Viking.

I used to wonder why people would refer to the "Norse Vikings." I assumed that all Vikings were Norse, so wouldn't that be redundant? But as it turns out, "Norse" and "Vikings" are not interchangeable terms as I assumed.

And no, I don't want to be run by a Mormon ... I don't really intend to be run by anybody.

The term Viking was used to describe the raiders from Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. I'm not sure what the raiders from Polynesia called themselves.

Of course Vikings left descendents. That doesn't automatically make those descendents Vikings. Using the term Viking isn't like using the term German or Scandinavian. Calling Viking descendents Vikings themselves would be like calling all of the descendents of a farmer, farmers.

 

A Mormon couldn't possibly be any worse than the Muslim we have in the WH now........

 

Yes, they are family-oriented, but only among themselves. If someone marries a Mormon, that person's parents/family can't witness the wedding b/c they aren't Mormon - instead they have to sit in an empty room while the wedding ceremony is going on. That happened to some friends of mine - 2X's, in fact, b/c their 2 daughters married Mormons........

But yes, the ones I've known are very nice people. While working at the Red Cross, the Mormon church called me and asked me if I'd have a bone marrow drive for one of their members - a young mother w/leukemia, which I did. Afterwards, a couple women came back, wanting to be volunteers - very good workers........

 

Have you ever heard of The Book of Mormon? That's what the Mormons follow 'literally' - not The Holy Bible.........

All people of faith could be considered quacks. They all believe in the super-natural in one form or another.

I agree with an earlier poster, Mormons are some the nicest, most honest people around, with exceptions of course.

Mormons do their mission at a young age, but after that , they dont try to force there religion on you like the Jehovah Witnesses do.

Anyway, whats the big deal? Every president alive since I can remember has confessed their faith in a God and I cant think of any president that has ever tried to mix religion with politics. Dont expect that to change either.

 

Are you equally critical of Harry Reid? Oh wait, you're not even American.....never mind.

Again... it is a false politeness. They are very deceptive. The mission is to demonstrate how wonderful and polite and kind they all are with such well adjusted lives... it is the core of their attempt to appeal.

Pretend to be perfect. Polite racists. Kind bigots. When they show up on their bicycles they don't really go over any of the wacky crap in the book of mormon, and will deflect questions about that stuff... if not outright lie.

And you would know exactly how? To their core, they are a good people in general, yes there are some "bad" but there are everywhere. Sounds to me you lack some real conversations, and friendship with those who are LDS.

Most people who are racists are polite when in just general conversation. I have asked questions and had direct answers, not deflection at all. They are very family centered, believe in helping their own, believe in education, much like myself, how can it be all bad? It really isn't, just different.

Much like the Masons, and other groups like that. There does seem to be some secret and maybe most of them don't know it.

 

I have no problem with Mormons.

I don't like politicians.

 

American need to be dictated to, they have no ability to evaluate any propaganda and will jump on the best posturing bandwagon. We need freedom from religion like Arabs need religious dictators.
