The carbon tax won't even pass, so lets not worry about it. It doesn't have the support Gillard thinks it does.

Quote me where I said that. More credible than Abbott? Yes. "So credible"? I don't think so. The Liberal party has done a complete about face on the ETS issue. It started off as Liberal policy, then Labor took it up, and now Liberals are rubbishing an ETS as though it's a completely stupid idea. It makes no sense. I have always been for an ETS, I think that the Liberal party should be for an ETS. I would vote for Turnbull in a second, I will not vote for Abbott led coalition.

@Makedde: Dunno what you are talking about. Unless there is a by-election I don't see any reason that the policy will not go through, that is to say the ETS. I doubt the government is going to introduce anything before it has support of independents and greens in the lower house, and after that the senate is no problem.

    Sounds like no ones credible!

    I couldn't agree more......though....

Gillard is a liar and a failure. Not sure how that garnishes your support?

I support an ETS. Abbott is against it, Gillard is for it. It's as simple as that. Abbott's "direct action" subsidies is not a good policy. It's not "Yes or No" to the government policy. It's the governments policy versus Abbott's policy. Funny that you ignore Abbott's lying when he was promoting an actual carbon tax, not an ETS. I assume you saw that interview like everyone else.

Dunno what browser you're using. If I type "gillard" into chrome it comes up with her wiki page at the top of google, then the officla webpage of the pm, then crikeys bio. Carbon tax isn't actually mentioned in any of the search results on the first page. =/ Also, I don't know why you think this matters.

It will pass and i imagine in 2 years time people will not bat an eyelid at it. they'd be more concerned with the Liberal Party's proposed Industrial Relations policy

I imagine you are right. If they pass it now there is another couple of years until the next election, and hopefully we'd be used to it by then - at the least, we'd know what effect it will have on us and could make an informed decision about it.

There aint a lot of love out there for the stooges or the carbon tax thismorning.

I would say that any poly that votes yes to this would be putting his or her seat at risk.

Bring on an election so that we can dump the trash.

This tax isnt about the environment, its about the billions of dollars that the govt are going to get when the ETS is brought in. Some will be spent on researching renewable energy, just like cash for clunkers, and the insulation scheme, and the school building scheme. This govt has NO economic credibility, more waste of OUR money. You are a disgrace Gillard. Hopefully those who voted Green will now realise just what a huge mistake they have made for there idealess. All this waste of money for no environmental gain. Would have been cheaper to call an election, and shown more leadership.

What would be the point in calling an election only a year after the last one?

He has already said that even if the majority support the carbon tax, he will ignore their opinions and continue to oppose it.
