    The USA (not just the Yankees) sought to change things by election in electing Abraham Lincoln to be the President of the USA.

    Of course that was not seeking to change the Constitution as that was fulfilling the Constitution.

    It was the Southern rebels who sought to change the Constitution by breaking up the union of the USA through violent brute force.

    The rebel traitors started their civil war, and the US government responded by putting down the insurrection as the Constitution declares in Article 1, section 8: "The Congress shall have power ... To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;"

    It is not an issue whether any American attempted to change the Constitution or not, because the civil war was started by the southern traitors in disregard of our Constitution.

    The only thing done was a legitimate election of the first Republican President to lead the USA, and the rebels started their war before Lincoln even entered the office.

    If the slavery had continued then the white people could have continued raping black women and abusing their children and brutalizing the black men, so really the defeat of the rebellion put a legal stop to the white immoralities and barbarism.

    Electing a preisdent is not a method used to change the constitution. The yankees had no intention of trying to change the constitutin legally.

    So, why didn't the yankees seek to change the Constitution legally?

    The Southernors kept the Constitution. Which is why the yankee is the traitor. How does it feel knowing your a traitor to your country? Knowing you and yours are accountable for all the deaths in that war? How does it feel? How does it feel? When your on your own?

    Lincoln was a sectional president. When he appointed Seward, who spoke of irrepressible conflict and a duty to the higher law above the Constitution, then its time to leave. The South could expect no safety or security under the law of the land.

    No one was trying to change the Constitution, and Lincoln being elected was a time to celebrate the fulfillment of the Constitution.

    It was the Southern States that rebelled, they were the ones unhappy with the Constitution and the due process of the general election.

    Why did not the Southerners try to change the Constitution instead of going to war? because their ideals were morally bankrupt without popular nor political support.

    That truly is silly stupid, as like are you ashamed that your South rebelled? because the South started that civil war and got rightfully whooped down.

    The Union was the Country - the USA, a citizen can not be a traitor when they stayed on the side of their home team, duh.

    I do regret the innocent people who died in that horrible war, but as to the racist rebel scoundrels who fought against the American flag then I wish we had killed every nasty one of them. I say the traitor leaders like Lee and Davis and others needed to have been publicly tried and hung from a rope instead of letting that white trash to walk free.

    If the civil war had not ended the African slavery then white people like us could rape that black girl Beyonce and make her cry, just as our white ancestors use to do to the black girls before the civil war.

    A demonstration of the white manhood, and of the so called southern charm in relieving your lust onto helpless and defenseless women.

    Seward was the Secretary of State under Lincoln, so Seward's authority just like his words had no real relevance to the South.

    The only thing notable as Secretary of State was that Seward did not want the slavery to spread onward into new territories.

    Since you repeat that particular quote then let us look at what it really says.

    It says the Union first THEN then the liberties next.

    The Southerners (under you claims) decided on their liberties first and screw the Union as the South decided to secede.

    I myself do not agree with that backward claim because I believe our liberties come first and foremost with the Union at a lower ranking.

    Of course my idea of liberty means morally and ethically upright and not the liberty to force other people into slavery.

    Just FYI - that quote you are repeating does not agree with any secession or rebellion, because it says "Union" first.

    You are the one being inept here, because it was the South that started their civil war, which means the South was throwing away the entire US Constitution.

    The Yankees did not resort to any higher law as they did nothing except to lawfully elect Lincoln to the Presidency.

    The Constitution was not against anyone or either side, and the start of the civil war was based on brute force and not because of any higher law.

    If you are some how referring to the 13th Amendment which ended the African slavery in the USA then it was passed by the Senate on April 8, 1864, THEN passed by the House on January 31, 1865, and THEN adopted on December 6, 1865.

    All of which happened long after the South started their rebellion on April 12, 1861.

    I agree that he Davis and Lee and other rebel leaders needed to have been hung like dogs, but President Lincoln wanted us to give "charity for all" so we did as the great emancipator asked of us to do.

    Obviously Lincoln was correct, so that 150 years later there are fools like your self who cling onto your dishonorable heroes as a testimonial for the rest of humanity that your kind has to be whooped down as there is no other option.

    I like the claim that the North provoked the war, or that Abe Lincoln provoked it, and that the South was suckered into their own defeat. That sends chills of pride down my body, but at last I say it was God Himself that pushed the racist rebels into their own destruction while He also uplifted the North.

    The fact that God used people like Abe Lincoln to win the war, as God used Jeff Davis in losing the war, is a grand miracle indeed.

    We can not declare exactly what the original speaker meant, but we certainly can see and read what the plain English words mean.

    It says "next" as in NEXT, Next, next comes the liberty.

    It does NOT say Liberty as first and next comes the Union - no.

    You are not just twisting the words but ignoring the English language.

    The Articles of Confederation was a flop, so they gave the central government more power at the expense of the states.

    In fact the more wars the US starts or join in, the stronger DC becomes. Under Bush II and 9/11 more civil liberties were lost than most Americans understand. Big brother is watching you.:omg:

    Some people (in Guantomal) have been held without a trail for years, because Bush thought they were terrorist? Isnt that breeching civil liberties?

    There are a lot of innocent people livng in American prisons. So being innocent isnt enough, you have to prove it before a court of law.:?:

    I guess we wont know that until you prove that those people are actually innocent. Your personal assumptions are insufficient proof of innocence.

    Well every year in America about 100 cons are freed, usally based upon DNA evidence that they were innocent. A black man was recently awarded 1 million dollars for sitting 25 years for a crime he never comitted.

    Lincoln was shot April 14, 1865. Davis was caught in May 1865. When did Lincoln give you this information not to try Jeff Davis?

    I suppose it need not be a surprise to me that you would claim some knowledge and study of the infamous racist traitor rebel Jeff Davis while at the same time you do not know about one of the most famous speeches ever given in the USA, and given by perhaps the greatest American our Country ever produced.

    President Lincoln gave us all the instruction of - malice for none and charity for all - in his Second Inaugural Address given on March 4, 1865.

    That speech ended with these words:
    Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman's two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said "the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether."

    With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan, to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations.

    Just because our great emancipator was shot down by a coward's bullet did not and still today does not lessen the message from our leader.

    This instruction from President Lincoln is why we did not hang Davis or hang Lee or execute other traitors.

    Even today this is why we allow the rebel war reenactments and we let white racist to show their racist rebel flag, simply because President Lincoln told us all - malice for none and charity for all.

    I didn't see anything about not bringing Jeff Davis to trial. And apparently no one else believed anything he said, as plenty of malice was given.

    Jefferson Davis after Lincoln's assasination, was promised to be brought to trial for Lincolns death. This was by the new president Andrew Johnson. But low and behold, though the promise was given it never came to fruititon as they found Davis was not guilty. Thus, just more false accusations from the yankees.

    Later, Jeff Davis was indicted on May 8th 1866 by the Grand Jury of the U.S. Court for the District of Virginia. He was charged with malicius treason against the U.S. government for his role as president of the Confederacy.

    See, no one is listening to your Lincoln.

    Jeff Davis has been charged now in 1866, one year after Lincolns death. So tell me now, what happened? What happened that made the iron doors open and Jeff Davis walk right out?

    he also made the first proclamation just like a king.

    he also rallied the northern states to fight for the feds then provoked war with the south when the south had legal standing

    I gave you the reason for it, and the fact that many of us are reluctant to follow the kindness order given by President Lincoln does not take anything away from the fact.

    I myself wish that every one of those racist rebel leaders had been hung from a tree - but that did not happen.

    Jeff Davis was obviously guilty since he took on the title of President of the rebels so he was guilty as can get.

    The fact that the federal grand jury indicted Davis means it was a stronger power which released that criminal, and that stronger power was the given policy by Abe Lincoln - malice for none and charity for all.

    If you think that some how the rebel leader Davis or Lee could be viewed as not guilty under federal law then you are a fool.

    They were given leniency and even pardon by the policy of malice for none and charity for all.

    It is probably correct that Davis had nothing to do with the assassination of Lincoln but Davis was obviously guilty of treason, crimes against humanity, and guilty of the civil war.

    Surely you do not pretend that Davis or Lee were innocent do you?

    It is true that Abraham Lincoln was profoundly great in so many ways that it is hard to grasp the depth of greatness.

    President Lincoln often spoke of how he saw the work of God in the daily events, and apparently God was watching over Lincoln too, including his martyred death.

    I like to point out that Abraham Lincoln not only liberated the Africans from the slavery, but God through Lincoln liberated the white population from the slavery too.

    Thank God for giving Abe Lincoln to us all.

    Sorry. We are talking about what really happened. Not what you think happened due to Lincolns speech. Notice again the date. One year after Lincolns assasination Davis is charged with treason. Your dream that they are letting Davis free because of Lincolns speech is just that, a dream.

    Now that Jeff Davis has been charged with treason, a lawyer is appointed to prosecute. Now the whole world will see the ugly head of treason get its judgment from the all powerful yankee courts. The lawyers name is John Clifford.

    But, after reviewing the case, John Clifford withdrew. Why? Could it be because of Lincolns speech? Why no. It was because he was given a loosing hand. Why was it a loosing hand? Because Lincoln was dead. Enough time had elapsed that the civilian courts were again in place so that people coudn't be hung just because they were 'said' to be guilty. Now, the queston of treason would be settled on the basis of the Constitution, alone. A loosing hand if your the yankees.

    Evidently, you don't understand the Declaration at all. In fact, I can only wonder if you've even read it:

    We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

    Where is the qualifier involving race? Does it say "all men are created equal except blacks"? Does it say "all white men are created equal"?

    Jefferson Davis most certainly did appeal to a higher law above the Constitution to legitimize the perpetuation of chattel slavery:

    Evidently, that phony holy roller forgot to read Exodus 21:16.

    It was eradicated by a war that the South started, a war fought on behalf of a "peculiar institution" that not only violated the unalienable rights of Man expressed in the Declaration but the Constitution itself:

    We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

    Try Governor Francis Thomas of Maryland, for starters...
