I'm in NJ too. Felt nothing here. Put my son down for a nap and we both must have slept through it. Wife's in Long Island and she called to say that she was in a thai restaurant and the pictures were rattling against the walls. CNN says parts of NY are being evacuated - Why?
The building shook, not severely, for 7-10 seconds. Everyone remained calm, we evacuated the building, & I said to XXXX with it & came home. No damage of any sort seen anywhere near Fort Meade, no disruption of traffic, people calm, but the cats are looking at me like it was my fault. A few minor things knocked off shelves here. I'll just do my shopping tomorrow.
The epicenter was in Mineral, Virginia.....it is all that 'fracking' that big oil, gas and coal companies are indulging in that have caused a multitude of small earthquakes in surrounding towns. People complained as to the safety of repeated fracking and it was stopped to have more discussions pertaining to the safety factor. The small earthquakes stopped. The coal, oil, gas companies returned to work and the earthquakes resumed. I believe this is a distinct warning if Mineral, Virginia is near ANY location of the fracking mechanism.
...... Both President Obama and the T-baggers are blaming Landru Guide Us for the earthquake. Don't bother me, I am getting ready for Hurricane Irene this weekend. Gonna get some water, candles, food, another flashlight, and enough stuff for a huge Frozen Margarita.
speaking of http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-08-23/dominion-virginia-nuclear- the reactors shut down

Felt it here in northern NJ. Everyone in my office was freaking out, and I was just sitting there watching the panic grow. None of them has ever felt an earthquake before. I lived in CA for 12 years. Nuff said, lol.
My god, This post is dumber than hell. It's obvious to anybody with more that a smattering of Physics training that you don't know what the hell you're talking about.
Well, maybe not the heart, but yes, Mineral, VA, is at least kind of sort of bordering on fundie, redneck, whacko-land. Gets worse as you get south of Richmond...
