armor99, I am not under 25-years of age. I have experienced many things in my short time in this world. I have learned that age doesn't always equal wisdom, knowledge, or truth. I find it equally insufferable when someone lectures me on matters of military and warfare.

So you think you're going to turn irrationally bitter eventually?

47 here, and really think that if someone dismisses someone younger then they are, well they aren't real secure in their own thoughts. Being younger is not sinful, nor stupid. Does life tell you certian things, yes, but some of us have lived a life that most people only read about in history books. If you are wondering why the younger generation is so lazy, and unmotivated, look in the mirror. You are the generation who taught them to be so. My two children are in college, trying to do something with their lives, and doing pretty darn well at it. It takes a responsible parent a loving house and encouragement. If one of those are lacking then you get what is coming to you.

School's starting so we'll be seeing less of the high school/college set. Except unemployed drop-outs who'll be posting from their parents' basement, desperate to convince us of their intellectual superiority.

    A wall-hanging for the youngsters:

LOL! Just wait. The bitterness will come, especially if you work hard and have a family.

And some of you have lived an epic life and learned nothing from it. Age is a pale predictor of wisdom, but a predictor none-the-less.

What you say is true. What a shame that so many people can't provide that for their children, not because they are incapable, but because they are insouciant.

No offence, but your statement is quite ignorant.

I just turned 25, and I am not the most versed on taxes, and many things to be honest, but I do have an opinion based on my life experiences. I've seen death and destruction in Afghanistan, I'm a full time college student and working 2 part time jobs, looking for a 3rd. I've been married, and very recently divorced, partly at fault with my own personal struggles from my deployment, and partly to how she treated me. Along with signcutter, I also struggle with finding a piece of mind, but am working on it. My degree will be a CJ degree in which I hope to eventually get onto SWAT. While that may hinder my quest for piece of mind, it's a job that is needed, and one that goes with the skills I picked up in the Army.

I've been through more than most my age, but less than many on a wider spectrum.

So are you just going to dismiss the opinions of those who are much younger than you?

No, as long as you don't dismiss the opinions of people with decades more life experience than you.

Respect is a two-way street... you get what you give.

I'm a 19 year old student. Is that a problem?

The arguments are either correct or they are false. The age, occupation etc. of the poster matters not.

Respect is a two-way street, so by your admission you must at least acknowledge my opinion. Also, since when does age and experience equate to knowledge?

Actually, it has been that way for millenia. Societies used to revere the elders for their wisdom, knowledge and experience.

Age and experience does not necessarily equate to knowledge, however, us old folk have have more years to absorb data.

What age and experience does equate to, though, is wisdom. Not saying that, just because someone is older that they always have more wisdom then the younger, but we have seen things and have experienced things that a younger person hasn't had a chance to yet. We know the proper way to hold a nail so that we do not hit our thumb....only because we have already hit our thumb before.

Interesting... so you remember yourself as brilliant at 15? 20?

I suppose it's possible to be delusional for a lifetime, but most people mature enough to realize they don't know everything. Guess some never do.

I have found here a minority of young people with much sense. They tend to be very arrogant, but their bravado is unfounded, rather it's a result of coddling and education in our pathetic American schools.

There are a few I have read who are surprisingly thoughtful, but most of them you can tell immediately that they have no clue about real life, only what they have been spoon fed. The most insipid posts are from liberal college kids, they reek of ignorance and arrogance, and lean very heavy on the latter.

Not that there is much going on in this forum but people wasting time between bouts of real life, anyway.

Many people of 20 have much more knowledge of the world than a person of 40 or more. Maybe you have more experience, but they can know perfectly how the world works.

And your post is an ad-hominem, attacking the person for what he is, and not for what he is saying.
