Again, if the sign had been about Bush, as it was often seen during his terms, would the same people protest as much?
It was an open question, examples were given as to the onslaught GW had to endure. I don't recall any of the aforementioned protesters standing up for him, as they do now for BO. Do you? Does anyone? Did any of our now so supportive of Obama friends complain about nasty Bush posters?
Where were the "respect for the office" speeches, as we heard one of the interviewees saying?
That's what I am asking.

 

So liberals can post "hate speech" against conservatives but conservatives can't post "hate speech" against liberals?

1) The use of the term "liberal" is often wrong, more often being used to try and paint a biased picture of the person involved. When I hear "liberal", I immediately wonder if the thread has any real substance (if it did, it wouldn't need to use "keywords"). ... hint, I vote republican.

2) Freedom of speech is ok as long as it isn't hate speech, as has already been mentioned. If the sign is classed under that, then I think it should be removed. If it is going to incite violence, it should definately be removed. If not, suck it up.

3) Likely there is overreaction. I haven't seen the sign, or what it says, but I presume that it isn't that bad. I do think that that our president is OUR president, and we should try to support what is in the best interests of our country and what he and the showhouse determines is best is usually all we have.

That said, roll on 2012.

You missed that whole part that it is "SPEECH". Hate, or comforting, it is what the constitution allows. The detractors have no right to take them down. All they should do in protest is identify who the sign makers or property owners are and let their message speak for itself.

Freedom of speech should not be constrained. When someone is full of fail, or if they have some profoundly substantive message, most people will see it for what it is and judge the messengers accordingly.
