Absolutely. Cain is either capable, or he is not. Its all that should matter.
Obama has shown by now that he isn't the cat's meow, and that is regardless of color as well.

The point I am making is that they celebrate the Holiday much more than others do, what the Government does has nothing to do with anything. If I had to compare it as far as interest goes it's probably comparable to Italians and Columbus day.

Point is, its a national holiday, not just one for blacks...and I see just as many blacks working as I see whites.
I believe its a selective holiday, some celebrate, some don't.

 

Blacks (of today) who associate themselves with him merely due to his skin color are examples of people who subscribe to an infantile tribalism. He was not a black leader... his goals weren't exclusive to the black community (but every minority) nor did he shun other races or discourage racial mixing. His message was character, not color... and that doesn't deserve immediate dismissal because he's "claimed". Blacks of his era clung to MLK because he was a voice for minority concerns... most notably equality, and it just so happened that blacks bore the brunt of said inequality. His message would've been embraced by people of color had MLK been any other color... so would he be a "black leader" if he were white?

If so, the nation wouldn't recognize it.

 

Yes, Martin Luther King is indeed their leader. The Hispanics in this country have nothing to do with him. They had much rather celebrate "Cinci de Mayo" than Martin Luther King's birthday!

 

certainly Obama will not get as high a % of the Black vote as he did in 2008, and the total % of registered Black voters who vote in 2012 will be down from 2008. but that said, Obama will get the usual Democrat % of the Black vote 90% nationwide.

Cain is an interesting development, and the Democrat Black community will demonize him to the max as they have done to Clarence Thomas. Cain probably won't get the Rep nomination, but could end up as a good Veep candidate. Certainly, he changes the dynamic of the discussion.

 

I hope that Cain saves the notion of a black president from being forever tied to Obama's failure.

Having a "white boy" talk about having a dream that all whites and blacks would get along would have fell on deaf ears by most blacks, because blacks still think of themselves as "oppressed" by Whitey; never mind the fact that they now have more entitlements than they ever had before.

Yes I understand that, however from my experience in several mixed towns here in NY, there is MUCH more interest from the blacks. Just because the State says it's a National Holiday has nothing to do with it, it's up to the person as to it's importance... and is that not what we were talking about?

How many black men do you know personally that are in a street gang, have committed a serious crime or have been or are in prison.

Personally, I know quite a few brothas that have been in and out of prison. It's typical of the species.

 

I knew a lot, since my business was car Insurance to mostly young people..and some whites as well of course. You have to deal with young people on a daily basis to know what is really going on..Especially in the minority neighborhoods, most average white folk do not hang in those neighborhoods..Us store owners do though..
There is no doubt about it, poverty breeds crime. Has nothing to do with black,,,it has to do with poor.

 

Wow! Some deep paranoia in there. First, can you give us some indication - I'm not asking for proof - that Cain is being run? If true the days of Uncle Tom are not behind us at all and things are much worse than anyone thought. If he is being coerced or somehow pressured into running, then a special prosecutor should be appointed as there's too many crimes in your suggestion to list here.

Secondly, to categorically state that Cain has zero chance of getting the nomination either shows delusional thinking or complete ignorance. While it may be true he doesn't get the nomination, he happens to be leading with a substantial margin right now.

Thirdly the vote splitting you're talking about started long before anyone in here had even heard of Herman Cain.

And fourth, if he has zero chance of getting the nomination how in daisy can he split the vote is he isn't on the ticket?

But thanks anyway, as I originally intended to point out to the OP that the disenchantment with Owebama among blacks began a long time ago....in fact shortly after he bailed out Wall Street long before Herman Cain was in the race. What we're seeing now is that disenchantment gelling into a cohesive force, just like so many registered Democrats who are pissed off. But now that you've established that Owebama's declining numbers are Herman Cain's fault we can sleep better at night.

 

The way I see it, is that it all starts with poverty, the Government with the easy entitlements keeps them complacent financially. That's all many human beings need, they are then fed the victim argument which of course is accepted and used as an excuse. This is how you form a Democrat base...

Great quote. I find it more disturbing how many black voters thought Obama was actually going to do something for them.
