It is already against regs, however the First Amendment would permit a person to wear whatever they wish to a "political event" don't you think? And I put that in quotes because I'm not sure this qualifies as a "political event."

It is my sincere hope that the USSC -- who is now hearing the challenge -- overturn that ridiculous law. It is flatly unconstitutional in every way.

He's not speaking up. He's undermining the very democratic principles that most people respect. You don't believe our nation should be a military dictatorship do you? The US is not a military dictatorship, it's a constitutional republic that is why the US military forbids the wear of military uniforms at political events or gatherings.

Anytime you undermine civilian authority over the military (such as allowing the wear of military uniforms at a political event) you take a step towards military dictatorship. That is not the principles of our nation nor are they the principles of a professional military. Professional military members are under civilian control and authority and stay out of politics and focus on national defense and protection of national interests. This man displays an arrogant disregard for the military and the principle that is a cornerstone of most republics and democracies which is civilian control over the military.

I respect the 1st amendment rights of anybody, but there is a right way to speak up and a wrong way to speak up. Clearly, this man does not know how to go about the right way to speak up when exercising his first amendment rights.

Oh, I do not dispute he was in violation of Marine Corps regs and would face disciplinary action. But it is not illegal for a civilian to wear a military uniform in public. Or if it is I'd like to see the citation.

 

That's not a law, sir. Those are military regulations. I am asking for evidence of a law.

Either way, you are correct it is not against the LAW, the only way he could be found guilty of any law would be if any of those ribbons on his chest were not earned, then it would fall under the Stolen Valor Act.

Perhaps if it did, maybe things could be resolved the "right way". That's not what we have though....we have a failed system that is crushing the working class. Many police officers do indeed come from military service backgrounds, and many
are in the reserves while also being full-time police officers.

Whether these 10-20% of a given country's population are sleaze, or patriots depends on the Constitution of that Nation, and its Political System.
