    Who cares?

Shoot even Neil Bortz has been avoiding his "buddy" Herman of late....I expect that the leading candidates will try their best to distance themselves from the expected bludgeoning Herman is gonna get from his wife once this farce...er...campaign is fully done.

He didn't end it. He suspended it. Newt Gingrich did the same thing just a few months ago when he lost his campaign staff. Now look where he is; he's the king of the hill.

Normally when a candidate suspends their campaign, its an acknowlegement that its over. Even on ultra-right Fox, they've admitted its over.

Then how do you explain Newt Gingrich? He was written off by everybody, including Fox, back in June when his staff bailed on him.

Why would you think FOX is the last word on the subject?

That is true, Sherp. But in the political arena, it also means donors get spooked, and the necessary funds to resume/continue the campaign stop coming in, and we all know what that spells...

    game over.

I think Cain's situation is a lot worse right now though.

Actually, I don't think that is correct.

Gingrich's campaign may have faltered when his staff left, but he never made a public announcement of suspension. Also, we must recognize, that the staff shake up with Gingrich happened in early June. Six months time, is an eternity in a primary race, obviously, plenty of time to gain traction. Mr. Cain is not afforded that time.

I suspect Mr. Cains bid for the GOP nomination are finished.

Actually, I do think it is correct. My quess is that if the money continues to roll in and he gets lots of support, Herman will be back in the running again and can win it for the Gipper.

That's correct. I think Cain's endorsement might be a "mixed blessing" for any of the contenders now!

And he probably will give his endorsement to the one who will promise him the vice-presidency. . .which would probably be a "death wish" for any of the serious contenders!

The only one who MIGHT be willing to "benefit" from a Cain endorsement is Michelle Bachmann. . .because they both appeal to Right wing extremists, hyper-religious crowd, who have their head far enough in the . . .sand, that they have no chance to win the primaries anyway!

    Hi Sadanie! :)

Yes, I agree. I could imagine Bachmann and/or Perry perhaps welcoming Cains endorsement, but surely Romney and Gingrich are politically savvy enough to distance themselves.

    Nahhh!

He just "suspended" instead of "ending" because that gives him the ability to keep on fund raising to . . .cover campaign debts already accumulated.

Hillary did the same thing. . . it's just a way (legal) to try to get die hard supporters to cover the debts rather than having to cover those debt himself.

No. . .Gingrich didn't suspend his campaign. . .his staff just left him, but he never officially quit or suspend.

    Very different situation.
