More revisionist history. Mind you, I'm no fan of Bush or Obama, but there are several key differences. Most of Bush's "off-time" was in Crawford, so the cost to taxpayers was a lot less, and Bush had an office in Crawford where he could hold "The Western White House" meaning that he was still working even though he was considered on vacation. The problem is Obama takes lavish vacations at great expense to the taxpayers during tough economic times, and of course no work is actually done (which is probably better for the country). And Bush played 24 rounds of golf in 8 years. Obama surpasses that every year.

Bottom line: Obama's vacations are expensive, very expensive. He needs to show a little restraint during these tough times.

The first is just wrong and the second is idiocy. How does Bush being whatever anyone is saying about him make Owebama any better? Does any of that change the fact Owebama has failed in virtually every category?

Bush took a 27 day Christmas vacation in 2001. He took a 25 day Christmas vacation for Christmas in 2002.

By "office" in Crawford, you mean the millions of dollars worth of security and communications equipment that was installed at the Bush's political prop of a ranch at taxpayer expense. By working, you mean meeting from time to time with visitors and being briefed at least daily by staff.

Whether in Martha's Vineyard or Hawaii, Obama is working in exactly the same sense that Bush ever was. He meets with visitors and is briefed at least daily by staff. And just as the Bushes did, President and Mrs Obama pay out of pocket for their vacations. The places they stay, the food they eat, the clothes they wear, the travel that gets them there. All of this is paid for just as you or I would pay for it. Taxpayers pay for the security and communications capabilities for the Obamas to the same degree and on exactly the same basis as they did for the Bushes. This is prescribed under law. Neither the Obamas nor the Bushes had the option of turning it down, though each might have wanted to from time to time.

Those are the acts of the matter. Your attempt at recreating the fable of The Ant and the Grasshopper is a miserable failure.

 

Start by understanding the basics. Bush will ALWAYS be responsible for the things he did and didn't do and for the multiple calamities that followed upon too nearly all of his disastrous decision-making. He does not escape blame for all this merely through the passage of time. He will be just as much a miserable failure of a President in 2050 as he is today, and also in 2100. If you are tired of hearing Bush blamed for things already, you have a very great deal yet to put up with.
