Etymology is a separate thing. It is very possible that even though the words stem from the same root and mean the same thing, elo-heynu reffered to jahve, and allah -because the arabs at then were polytheists- referred to the moon god.

Hebrew was the language of the priests. It was based on Aramaic, but, like legal language today, was designed to convey more than one meaning and keep the peasants down.

For me, Allah comes from Al Yah and now would be Al Yahshua.

The Moon God idea was in Haran, where Abraham lived for a time.
Haran was the center for Abraham's Gospel even in Paul's time.
Actually, the Moon was not God, but an image or symbol for Him with some of His attributes.

The Man in the Moon we see in the evening has His face on it smiling or laughing at us. In the Morning, He is gone, and Africa shows instead. Go look sometime. It is full moon time now, go look.

The name of Moon God in Haran was Sin. And what we call sin today is our replacing the Word of Sin, with our own word. It is what Adam did in Eden. We try to usurp His Authority as if it is ours. We try to be Sin without conforming ourselves to His Word. Hence we sin.

Cut off a littler early didn't you?

The name was previously used by pagan Meccans as a reference to a creator deity, possibly the supreme deity in pre-Islamic Arabia.[12][13] In pre-Islamic Arabia amongst pagan Arabs, Allah was not considered the sole divinity, having associates and companions, sons and daughters–a concept that was deleted under the process of Islamization.

Thank you for the link as I said Allah is a pagan deity not the God of the Judeo-Christian tradition.

Elohim and Eloheynu is the same God as Allah.

The Dictionary of Deities and Demons in the Bible defines "elohim" as a plural of eloah, an expanded form of the common Semitic noun "'il" (ʾēl).[3] It contains an added heh as third radical to the biconsonantal root. Discussions of the etymology of elohim essentially concern this expansion. An exact cognate outside of Hebrew is found in Ugaritic ʾlhm, the family of El, the creator god and chief deity of the Canaanite pantheon, in Biblical Aramaic ʼĔlāhā and later Syriac Alaha "God", and in Arabic ʾilāh "god, deity" (or Allah as " The [single] God").

The Allah that Muhammed spoke of was Jesus Christ or Al Yah-shua. Christ is certainly not the "God of the Judeo-Christian tradition".

The "Judeo-Christain tradition" is apostate Judah's religion dressed up like Christianity. The Vatican is a great example of this, but so are many of the Protest-ant groups.

Just another daft response from someone who is unfortunately incapable of thinking outside his little box , . or even able of backing up his/her statement.

It seems like deliberate treading on toes to me. What's wrong with God or Jehovah?

    Very well..let's evaluate this
    situation:

Allah is the word for God in Islam.

    Yahweh/God the Christian version.

Both mean the same thing to each and neither mean anything to those who bother to think beyond superstition.

Who really cares what someone decides to call fabricated reality....might as well be a Unicorn.

Unfortunately for the likes of you + me, we're a minority - its the religionists - the overwhelming majority who seem to control world events.

If Elohim is the same God as Allah, why not use the name Elohim?

    The being of Atum

    Give me your whole awareness,
    and concentrate your thoughts,
for Knowledge of Atum's being, requires deep insight,
which comes only as a gift of grace.

    Hermes

    Wise words,
    although written
    by my decaying hand,
    remain imperishable,through time;
Imbued with the medicine of immortality
    by the All-Master
    Re seen
    and undiscovered
by all those who will come and go,
    wandering the wastelands of life,
    Be hidden,
    until and older heaven
    births human beings
    who are worthy
    of your wisdom.
