    Caused by high energy prices.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/...ustrial-massacre-sparked-by-energy-costs.html

    quote:
“…Europe's quixotic dash for renewables was pushing electricity costs to untenable levels…”

“…we can't sacrifice Europe's industry for climate goals that are not realistic, and are not being enforced worldwide…”

“…Compared to US competitors, European industry pays today twice as much for electricity…”

    Taxcutter says:
    That’s a scary thought.

US electric rates have doubled since 2009 and look to double again by 2016. European electric rates must be outrageous.

This serves as a warning to Americans.

Well, as bad as Obama has made it for America, the European socialists have made it even worse for Europe. But Obama is trying hard to catch up.

Did you check on the tables ? industrial production fell because of austerity in Europe not of energy prices and how about bank lending ?

If there was a single socialist nation in Europe you might have an argument. However there is not one, and energy prices are governed here exactly as they are in America-by futures traders and the stock market. I'd hardly call the New York stock exchange a bastion of socialism!

"Big oil thanks you spreading their message. They have such a history of honesty that we must believe them."

    Taxcutter asks:
What does big oil have to do with the fact that the EPA has caused skyrocketing electric rates?

Big oil is far more honest than the EPA ever was.

Does anybody here really think high energy costs don't drive costs up?
