Smart move. Women deserve their sex exclusive spaces and sports.

Men and women are not the same and trans women are still men where it counts, their biology.

They can claim to change their gender. They can't change their sex or biology. They can pump themselves full of hormones and drugs, get cosmetic surgery but in the end, their sex remains the same as does their basic biology. The UCI is smart to protect women from trans athletes.

I don't really care, but I never really understood why they gender segregate non-contact sports like cycling.

Because male and female physical natures are different.
I am in total agreement that men who become women should not be allowed to compete against biological women in any activity where they would have a biological advantage.
If women who become men want to try competing against biological males, then I have no objection since they will be at a natural disadvantage and won’t cheat others out of their potential accomplishments.
And I am against minors having their native sex altered by chemical or surgical means. Adults can do what they want but we don’t let kids drink, smoke, do drugs, vote, drive, join the military, etc., so it seems wrong to allow this.

So what? I don't see why that should matter if there isn't any physical contact involved between participants.

And yes, men will dominate some sports, and women others. Again, so what? Why does that matter to people?

Well it matters to the people in the sport even when "(you) don't see why that should matter".

Women don't want to share lorckerrooms and sports with men. It matters to them. The fact none of that matters to you really says a lot about how you value women.

What about endurance sports, track and field and similar events? Men would have the advantage. I used to play competitive billiards and for the life of me I could never understand why they had different leagues for men and women.

What part of him saying it’s a “smart move” says that he’s “bitching” about it to you?

Or did you just forget to read what he said? Reading helps clear confusion especially when it’s as clear and concise as he made it

Nobody has to share a locker room in cycling. Nobody need have any physical contact in cycling. I see no reason why men and women shouldn't compete with one another in this sport. Do you? How about in darts? Billiards? Curling? Race car driving? Gymnastics? The vast majority of non-team based track and field events?

You can have everyone compete against each other in all of these sports, and how you handle locker rooms or bathrooms isn't dictated by that.

So what if people of one gender have an advantage? People with bigger muslces, more flexibility, better lung capactity, etc, have advantages regardless of gender too.

I don't think the UCI is using as the decision making standard you declaring you "see no reason".

Why do you reply but not answer my question? I see no reason to gender segregate these sports. Do you see a reason to?

Yes. It's called biology. Sorry if you can't see and understand "biology" but it's a real thing.

What about biology? Some sports will have more women doing better, and others will have more men doing better. Is that a problem? Some have more short or tall people doing better, and some have more light or heavy people doing better. Is that a problem?

Women's track records are seconds to minutes slower than mens in both track and cycling.

You're not having a discussion in good faith. You're dismissive and ignoring any real points. You are obscuring rather than making any legitimate points.

Yes I am speaking in good faith. I think you aren't. I haven't tried to attribute motive to you or attacked your character. No I am not ignoring any points. I have agreed that men and women have different biology and that it leads to different averages in performance in different sports. Men will do better at some and women at others. Where we differ is that I don't see that as any more relevant than tall people doing better in basketball or short people doing better as horse jockeys.

So I will ask her again respectfully. Why divide by gender and not by height, shoulder width, lung capacity, etc? Will you respond with another insult rather than a good faith answer?

And with sports that are not gender segregated, trans in sports is a non-issue. So I think the onus is on you moreso than me to answer this. Why won't you?
