    I understand the sentiment...
    I'm saying it is ineffective.

Sounds like an argument for anarchy. Countries like the UK and Australia prove you wrong about gun control. Why have their gun laws been successful at targeting criminal behavior (as evidenced by their low rates of criminal gun misuse)? In the real world, it is possible for legislation to affect the exercise of free will.

Let's ban alcohol. That will reduce harm.

Oh wait, we already tried that.

Haven't they always had low levels of criminal gun misuse? Why both Australia and the UK see similar homicide rate reductions after 1996 as the US did?

It's been 3-4 days since your last post hoc fallacy.
    What took you so long?

Because many things can reduce homicide rates. Gun control is certainly one of them

Why did the US homicide rate decline at the same rate as those two countries who implemented draconian gun control that would be unconstitutional and ineffective in the US?

Again many factors are involved in the decline of homicides but it is quite clear that per capita we have far more homicides than first world nations that have gun control

    Probably a -higher- rate.
The most impressive facet of the ~50% decrease in violent crime in he US since 1993 is the scores of millions more guns put in circulation since then.
Nothing demonstrates the "more guns = more crime" lie than this fact.

Nothing demonstrates the fact that guns kill by having a nation with the highest gun ownership and it ALSO having the highest gun deaths rate of any first world nation.

Enforcing the law can reduce homicide rates too.

Which is likely to continue as long as private citizens can legally own firearms. This is why the covert effort for anti gunners to change this fact is to seek a future gun free America by what ever means necessary, even if is by chipping away at gun rights one law at a time, while claiming "we are not trying to take anyone's guns away."

The problem is gun rights advocates accidentally predicted the craziness of where banning inanimate objects will lead to. We all said that if you're willing to ban guns then are you willing to ban cars and guys like you always said that will never happen. Wiel, it did.
