…Jason Vanderground, president of Haven, a branding firm based in Grand Haven, Michigan, that is working on the “He Gets Us” campaign, confirmed that the Greens are one of the major funders, among a variety of donors and families who have gotten behind it.

Donors to the project are all Christians but come from a range of denominational backgrounds, said Vanderground.

Organizers have also signed up 20,000 churches to provide volunteers to follow up with anyone who sees the ads and asks for more information. Those churches are not, however, he said, funding the campaign.

The Super Bowl ads alone will cost about $20 million, according to organizers, who originally described “He Gets Us” as a $100 million effort.

“The goal is to invest about a billion dollars over the next three years,” he said. “And that is just the first phase.”

One of the ads that aired during the NFL playoffs was titled “That Day” and tells the story of an innocent man being executed.

“Jesus rejected resentment on the cross,” the ad says. “He gets us. All of us.”..

…Organizers want to reach a mass audience that is paying attention. Super Bowl ads have become part of the pageantry of the big game.

“There just aren’t ways to reach an attentive, engaged audience that size anymore,” she said.

She also said that the anonymity of the group behind the ads plays to the group’s advantage. It would be easy for viewers to dismiss an ad coming from a faith-based organization or religious group. The “He Gets Us” ads wait until the end to mention Jesus and don’t point to any specific church or denomination.

“That makes it even more powerful, and hits the message home in a really compelling way,” she said. “I think it does make Jesus more relevant to today’s audiences.”…

This is simply awesome! What a great way to spread the Good News! I’m glad that is effort is being made at this point in time. A very timely message to be sure.

I plan on watching the game to see those ads. I believe that if CBS or NBC were carrying the Super Bowl this year instead that they would have refused to carry the ads and that’s what we’d be talking about instead.

You would think that the omnipotent creator of the universe would be able to spread his "Good News" without needing any help.

Or, to quote Kirk in Star Trek V, "What does God need with a starship?"

The Super Bowl is on Fox. Fox has been running propaganda ads by some Christian group the compares the illegals to Mary and Joseph for several weeks. It pushes the narrative that they are being attacked by their county’s or rebel soldiers at home. It’s a bunch of crap because the vast majority of them are coming here for economic reasons.

LOL! $20 million? How many poor people could have been fed with this money?

Well, you better donate, it's for a good cause. I'm sure Vanderground is taking a good cut from the donations. I read the goal is $100 million.

Imagine how much good could be done with $100,000,000 instead of an ad.

Seems a sin to waste money on commercials.

I bet if this was a gay or Muslim ad you people would be freaking out. Aren’t you one of the ones that want everyone to “stop shoving their beliefs down your throat”?

Funny how that seems to be a one way street.

As to the message; why would a god that created evil, and punishes people for all eternity for failing to worship it in the vague ways demanded in the Bible that was written by man centuries later and then edited by kings and scholars say “he gets us”?

Imagine the good the church could do if they used funds to help society instead of covering up lawsuits for raping children, building monstrosities as temples and buying their pastors jets.

They are freaking out about their declining numbers and the rate of loss is unsustainable long term so the only option they have is to indoctrinate more people faster.

Not sure why these threads aren't moved to the religious section.

The mission of the church is to spread the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ to all the world and to help alleviate the human suffering in the world here and now with our time, our money, ourselves in our actions. They are not mutually exclusive goals . We must do both. There are many ways of outreach to those who do not know or have forgotten. Considering the numbers of people this outlet reaches in so many nations around the world it may well be very cost effective.

God didn’t create evil. He will save us from it forever though, unless we openly side with evil actively or by pretending to not take a side…

    Isaiah 45:7 (KJV)
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

So, what else are you wrong about God?

I would think they could alleviate more human suffering by using that money for charitable works rather than a TV ad.

Which is a wonderful message, except it requires belief in the divinity of an unknown entity, and acceptance that that entity is somehow omnipotent. It's great, I get it, but i don't see morality descending from a belief in such things.
