‘Racist’ trees separating a black neighborhood from a golf course will come down

Problem is they should have just cut down the trees and asked for permission later like white folks.

 

If you're in the house at the end on the left - yes, your view IS blocked. Any house bordering the trees would have their view blocked. The article also mentions the chain link fence, and that is butt ugly.

For those like my friends who escaped Cambodia after Pol Pot, and arrived as brown-skinned non-English speaking refugees with zero dollars, they were obvious choices to make in a land of opportunity. They did all those things and more .. including squeezing two or more families into tiny 2 bed apartments to save money. When they weren't out cleaning toilets for minimum wages, they were sitting with their kids to make sure homework and study got done. Those kids grew up to be doctors and lawyers.

Oh but this isn't the first time trees are blamed for racism. Remember that we were told that black families did not vacation in our national parks because all the trees reminded them of blacks being hung from said trees.

no, i'm white, i'm just very annoyed by the complete lack of self awareness held by what seems like the vast majority of other white folks.

like, you and i both know that most white people never really think about racial issues at all because we really don't have to that often.

i want to abolish the distinction between work and non-work entirely. i want to open the paths for people to freely pursue their passions in jobs that can be fulfilled purely by people that genuinely want to do them and the rest automated away.

don't act like the day we can actually do this is very far off either.

 

I don't know if the tree line was intended to be racist. Lots of golf courses are surrounded by trees. In fact, the Augusta National is like a pine forest with a golf course in it.

Plus, do we really need to cut down trees right now?

 

National Parks do not have amenities, like McDonanalds, it is buggy, can be hot and humid which does a number on hair, and you can't find a 40 oz around every corner.
