Is the Daily Beast author possibly overthinking this? Is everything about Trump? Will you go see the movie?
The movie looks excellent and not one time did Trump even pop in my mind when I saw the trailer. I think this Daily Beast author is reaching for something that isn't there. LOL
I watched it all unfold. There's nothing could change my opinion of the sorry, sordid, media tall tale.
The Olympics in Atlanta were 23 years ago and bear little to no relevance to anything occurring today.
Richard Jewell's story is both maddening and sad, and it deserves to be told. The story is not really political and shouldn't be construed that way. Going against "the system" has been a recurring theme in Eastwood's films for decades.
Sounds like a triggered lefty opinion to me. Government for them is now sacrosanct no matter how bad it is or how unconstitutional.
So now a movie about something that took place decades ago is a trigger for the anti Trump crowd. Is it any wonder why it is impossible to take them seriously anymore? Democrats, you have heard the story of the boy who cried Wolf. Right?
This is little more than proof that for a certain number of people on the left Trump lives rent free in their heads.
Other than to point out the violence of the actual bomber...a right wing anti abortion nutjob who was responsible for a whole string of bombings. Eric Rudolph
I would say that a movie that started with Leonardo DiCaprio and Joanna Hill announcing that they are going to produce a movie about Richard Jewell in February of 2014 is most definitely being over thought. Trump has successfully short circuited the brains of weak m iui need liberals.
Way back 1976 there was a movie "All the President's Men" Starring Dustin Huffman and Robert Redford,It'a about Nixon's Watergate Scandal, somehow it rings a bell. Clint Eastwood was not in that movie.
I saw Richard Jewell, it is surprisingly moderate in roasting the MSM and FBI as a whole and instead emphasizes only the few bad actors. It's a great David v Goliath story, but nothing like what the TDS crowd are claiming. Good movie, not necessary to see it in a theater, but definitely worth seeing. Kathy Bates made me cry, and I don't cry at movies much. Hauser, Rockwell, Arianda deserve awards. Hell most of the cast does. Wilde and Hamm had iffy scripts, maybe by design. Extremely well acted, directed and edited. Just a good movie, not nearly the ideological spectacle I was expecting one way or the other.
I saw the movie as well. While I don't actually live in Atlanta, I did serve as a volunteer during the 1996 games. Mostly just checking tickets for folks entering certain venues. I was actually at the park a couple of times that week. Once to watch D.L. Menard, and the other time to watch a Celtic group out of Ireland. There were people there from all over the world. Knowing first hand how crowded that area was during the concerts, it is no small issue about how bad things could have been. The bottom line is that Richard Jewell actually saved at least a few dozen lives from a horrible death. The man was an actual hero.
Saw the movie last night. Good movie and worth seeing the story was about the guy wrongfully accused of the bombing in Atlanta. It was a period story based in the 1990’s it could not happen in modern times there is simply too much information in today’s digital age for this to happen in these modern times early in the movie a scene is played out that proves jewel was not involved Only in the movies could a fact like this be ignored. So to consider the movie to be similar to trumps media frenzy is not today’s reality besides. Trump brings it on himself today’s letter to Pelosi from trump proves my point. Trump just won’t shut up and allow the media to report on anything else it is always about trump and if not trump ain’t happy
We just witnessed a 2 year Special Counsel investigation that was started without any evidence and ended with no evidence. We also had an accusation that the DNC server was hacked when the technology analysis actually proves that the Clinton e-mails were downloaded and not transmitted over the internet. So when you say that it can't happen in modern times, the facts speak volumes about how corrupt media players and derelicts can corrupt the landscape.
This thread has brought up some old memories... So much so that I pulled out my blazer from the 1996 games. .
Bill Clinton’s blowjob scandals began when an investigation was started because of a lucrative real estate deal In ended with ole bill lying about getting a shiner in the Oval Office trumps investigation start d because of his own actions. Did any other presidential candidate publicly invited Russia to hack the DNC servers?? Did any other candidates son meet with Russians in trump tower for dirt on a political rival?? And then was forgiven because he was so stupid he did not know he was breaking the law trump brings this stuff on himself. It is his fault.
