I'll agree they broke themselves by becoming complicit in the coup attempt against Trump to the complete exclusion of any attempt at being a real news agency. Trump gets credit for winning this battle and associated credit for the downfall of CNN that resulted from his standing tall.

 

This is partially true. I watch CNN and MSNBC for their comedy value.

There are some real loons there with some world views you'd expect to find in elementary school.

 

I have been finding them to be too painful to watch in the last several years.
About 5 years ago my first news website to read was cnn.com. Now it’s news.google.com and I rarely read something from CNN - I just don’t like it when they literally inject their opinion into a legitimate story. Network turned into real crap.

 

Fox succeeds because it's hard news is the best in the business. It has the most neutral, bias-free news you can find. Shepard Smith is actually slightly left of center, but barely so.

And it's also the only place in the media where you can find conservative opinion shows (Tucker, Hannity, etc.). Half of America has only one place to see current events discussed by people with their traditional American values.

Because they have a large audience, and that gets them the ad revenue that keeps them profitable.

I agree. But I still watch. I grew up in the 1970's, watching CBS, NBC, and ABC. I'm comfortable watching news with a liberal slant. I can see through it.

CNN is just straight liberal crap, often presented in a very depressing way. They're not as entertaining as MSNBC which has more crazy people.

 

Yes. This is their second attempt at that. Their ratings have slowly eroded, partially because their hosts occasionally go on leftist rants while covering sports.

I only watch ESPN now when one of my teams (New England Patriots, Chicago Cubs) is playing.

 

I always jump to CNN whenever something dramatic happens- like the Zimmerman trial, or when the Mueller report dropped, etc...

Watching the CNN blabberheads trying to put a 180 degree spin on reality is a spectacle to behold. It never fails to amuse me.

 

If a company wants to make money and truth, bring back O'Reilly and the No-Spin Zone.

 

Like many people you see what you want especially negative things off people that challenge you. It seems to be some sort of defense mechanism.

Every news organization has issues of bias, but when someone claims Fox to be "neutral" and "bias-free", all credibility is lost.

Even Fox doesn't even try to be neutral. When they repeatedly had to go to court, they freely describe themselves itself as "entertainment", not a "news" organization which is a very important distinction.

But if I had as many failed lawsuits containing their lies, I would deny myself as a news network too.

Yes, the company president of ESPN finally acknowledged that injecting politics into sports broadcasting was a STUPID business decision that cost them bundles of money via people voting with their feet . . . or rather with their remote. But if he actually means it and actually will enforce a ban on on-air politics, only time will tell.
