GOP embraces natural immunity as substitute for vaccines"

“Republicans fighting President Joe Biden’s coronavirus vaccine mandates are wielding a new weapon against the White House rules: natural immunity.”

“They contend that people who have recovered from the virus have enough immunity and antibodies to not need COVID-19 vaccines, and the concept has been invoked by Republicans as a sort of stand-in for vaccines.”

    https://apnews.com/article/coronavir...d7bb8400ea4888

Lets review just a few GOP and right’s misconceptions regrading Covid:

Covid will disappear on its own
Sucide presents more of a danger than Covid
    Covid is the common cold
Concern with Covid is a hoax
Covid is fading and deaths are down
    Covid is under control
98% of Covid cases are completely harmless
Covid no worse than the seasonal flu
Covid will be gone by April, then May, then June
Children have a virtual immunity to Covid
    Masks don’t work against COVID
    Covid numbers are fictitious
US has lowest Covid rate among developed nations
    Media is overblowing Covid
85% of people wearing masks catch Covid
Covid cases going up cause of more testing
Few people actually die from Covid
    hydroxychloroquine, Lysol, neon lights
Vaccines might not even work, their just telling you they do

So common sense seemingly would dictate that given the track record, why would any person believe or follow anything these people recommended or offered regarding Covid?

98% are harmless. Here is some info from Johns Hopkins. The US has a China virus death rate 1.6%, Mexico’s death rate is 7.6%. In terms of deaths we’re doing better than Canada and many European countries.

I’ve received two Pfizer shots and now have chest pains. No one ever seems to want to address that. When I had the virus I was just fine, my only symptoms were no smell or taste. In my case the cure could be worse than the disease.

Given this ridiculous list I'm not sure you can claim to be using common sense.

You will never get that answer. It's easier to blame the chest pains on the vaccine.

I had COVID one time last year for a couple of weeks, haven't had it since, and I don't wear a mask anywhere....

I had covid. Had a slight congestion in my head and chest and loss taste and smell for a week. That’s it.

Been tested 8 months later and still have more natural antibodies than people get when they take the vaccine and get boosted.

I don’t want nor do I need your vaccine homie.

My doctor said I have the same and in fact a higher level of antibodies after having covid than most people do after taking the vaccine and a booster.

My doc said I don’t need the vaccine or the booster. Who should I listen to? The government and my job who wants to fire me for not taking a vaccine or my doctor?

For the record I also have a baseline white blood cell count of ~19,000 whereas the average persons is 7,000. I don’t need your vaccine.

Appears some didn’t get the point, you can only be wrong so many times and still offer credibility, and the anecdotal doesn’t contribute

Yet it is noticeable you didn’t take the time to invalidate any of that supposed “ridiculous” list

As I commented above, yet you didn’t offer any invalidation of that you found dishonest

Which means if unvaccinated you stand a greater chance of getting the virus once again

Antidotal narratives mean little, and last I knew as a society, as an American, first person singular wasn’t the outlook needed when challenged with a crisis

I noticed you failed to address the topic: Does prior infection offer better immunity than the vaccine, or not?

Wasn’t the topic, but, no, the answer was right in the source included in the topic post

“Scientists acknowledge that people previously infected with COVID-19 have some level of immunity but that vaccines offer a more consistent level of protection. Natural immunity is also far from a one-size-fits-all scenario, making it complicated to enact sweeping exemptions to vaccines”

“That’s because how much immunity COVID-19 survivors have depends on how long ago they were infected, how sick they were, and if the virus variant they had is different from mutants circulating now. For example, a person who had a minor case one year ago is much different than a person who had a severe case over the summer when the delta variant was raging through the country. It’s also difficult to reliably test whether someone is protected from future infections.”

Please tell me what good getting the vaccine will do for someone who already has antibodies for a sufficient level of protection.

    Don’t worry. I’ll wait.

The Israel study found naturally infected were 13 times less likely to suffer symptoms than vaccinated for the delta variant.

    Didn’t have to wait, it was fully explained in the topic post’s source;
